The next Spotlight Hour is waiting in Pokémon GO. We have looked at what content it brings and whether it is worth it.
What kind of event is this? The Spotlight Hour is a short, 60-minute event that takes place every Tuesday in Pokémon GO. It brings you a specific Pokémon and a bonus.
On September 23, 2025, Hoothoot is the star of the event. The Pokémon comes from the 2nd generation and has the types Flying and Normal. It can evolve into Noctowl.
Spotlight Hour on September 23, 2025 – Start and Bonuses
When does the Spotlight Hour start? As always, the event starts at 6:00 PM. After 60 minutes, at 7:00 PM, it is over.
What bonus is active? Every Pokémon you catch during the event will give you double the amount of candies. It does not matter whether you catch a Hoothoot or another Pokémon, for example from saved rewards. The bonus is active for every catch.
If you use Nanab Berries or Silver Nanab Berries while catching, you can further increase the bonus.
Can you catch Shiny Hoothoot? Yes. If you are lucky, you can also catch the Shiny variant of Hoothoot during the event. However, the chance for this is not increased.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? Neither Hoothoot nor its evolution Noctowl are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Neither as a Flying attacker, nor as a Normal attacker do the two Pokémon represent solid choices.
Also in the battle league, you should avoid both Pokémon. They also do not play a role here and should not be used.
The bonus is therefore not the strongest addition for Hoothoot and its evolution. However, if you still have Pokémon rewards from field research or special research saved up, you can catch those during the event to earn additional candies.
In addition to the Spotlight Hours, many other events are waiting for you in September. There are various events, raids, and additional content. If you want to know what they are and when they take place, feel free to take a look at our overview with all events in September 2025 in Pokémon GO.
