What is a spotlight hour? A spotlight hour is a 60-minute event. It takes place every week on Tuesday. During this time, there is a featured monster accompanied by a bonus.
On September 16, 2025, the next spotlight hour will take place. Here you will find Gothita, the Psychic Pokémon from Generation 5. It can evolve into Gothorita and then into Gothitelle.
Spotlight Hour on September 16, 2025 – Start and Bonuses
When does the spotlight hour start? As usual, the event starts at 6:00 PM. Exactly 60 minutes later, at 7:00 PM, it ends again.
What bonus is active? For every monster you catch during the event, you will receive double the amount of experience points. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you catch: The bonus applies to every captured monster.
If you also use lucky eggs, you can even receive four times the amount of experience points for each catch.
Can you catch Shiny Mollimorba? Yes, the Shiny variant of Gothita is already available in the game. However, the chance of encountering a Shiny version is not increased during the event.
Is the spotlight hour worth it? If you’re on the hunt for strong monsters, then this spotlight hour is not for you. Gothita and its evolutions are not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
This applies to both raids and the battle leagues. In both areas of the game, you should rather focus on other monsters.
