In Pokémon GO you can promote your cities for upcoming live events. If you are lucky, Niantic might choose your location and host a GO Fest or a Safari Zone there in 2020.
How to promote your city: Niantic is calling all players, as well as tourism boards or city administrations, to apply for a live event in 2020.
If your city is deemed suitable, a live event by Niantic could be held there in the upcoming year.
How to promote your city for live events
How do I participate? If you believe your city is ideal for a live event, you can share this on Twitter, or register on the website of Niantic. There, you will fill out a questionnaire and send your application directly to Niantic.
Your city must meet these criteria: You not only have to feel that your city is suitable, but also Niantic. There is a long list of criteria that you must meet. We have included a selection of the list below:
- Is there a park that is at least 20 hectares large?
- Is the park located in the center of your city?
- Are there good network and Wi-Fi connections?
- Are there enough hotels around the park?
- Is the city administration favorable towards such an event?
- Is the density of PokéStops and gyms high?
- Are there enough parking spaces?
- Is the park of historical interest?

What events are involved? Every year, Niantic hosts live events. In this summer, a GO Fest will take place in Dortmund. This was already the case last year with a Safari Zone there.
Additionally, there have been special Safari Zones in places like Oberhausen or Munich. Such an event could be held in your city in 2020.
