With the start of a current event in Pokémon GO, you can hunt for a new monster. The community fears that it may take ages to evolve this one.
Which Pokémon is it about? Since the start of the “Sweet Discoveries” event, you have the opportunity to catch Knapfel in the game. You can find apples on the map and click them, which can yield the monster itself, a sweet apple, or a sour apple.
Knapfel has two evolutions, Drapfel and Schlapfel, that you can perform. For each evolution, you need one Knapfel, 200 candies of the Pokémon, and either 20 sweet or sour apples. However, the mechanics of the evolutions are currently causing quite a bit of frustration in the community.
“This should take about 54 years”
What is the problem? The apples that appear on the map are quite rare. You can increase the spawn rate by using a moss lure module. However, even with the help of the item, the spawn rate seems to be very low for many trainers. Additionally, other grass monsters can also appear when you click an apple.
If you have caught Knapfel and need more candies for the evolution, you can take Knapfel as a buddy to earn extra candies while walking. Since you only receive one candy for every 5 km, it can take some time to collect the necessary candies.
You should therefore try to catch every Knapfel you can, preferably with regular or silver Nanab berries, to receive extra candies when catching.
The next problem the community sees is the number of items required for the evolutions. Here, you have no way to increase the amount. You can only collect the apples on the map and hope to receive the apple you need, as well as speculate that you might receive another apple while catching a Knapfel.
If you want to obtain both evolutions of Knapfel, you should also consider using moss lure modules to increase the chance of getting the apples.
What does the community say about it? Under a post on Reddit titled “This should take about 54 years”, which has received over 3,100 upvotes so far, various trainers are expressing their opinions on the subject.
While some trainers report that they have had little trouble collecting Knapfel and apples, there are mostly more critical voices. Some of the comments include:
- “Wow, I thought the apples were an evolution item that you need one of, like all the other evolution items,” writes nefhithiel.
- “Yeah, they definitely want us to spend real money on lures,” thinks castillo_482.
- “My second moss lure module is 3/4 through and I have found a total of 3 apples….. All from the first lure module…..,” notes trainer discOHsteve.
- “Apples can spawn other grass Pokémon. That’s absolute nonsense,” comments Professional_Donut20.
- “Cool, another part of the game that I’ll never use lmao.”
What experiences have you had so far? Have you been lucky with the apples or have you not discovered them at all? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
