For a few days now, Pokémon GO has looked unusually pixelated. However, this graphic change won’t stay in the game for long.
As a kind of April Fool’s joke, the team at Niantic changed the graphics of the popular mobile game Pokémon GO. Since the evening of March 31, 8-bit graphics have been shown, reminiscent of the old handheld versions of Pokémon for the Game Boy, which first sparked the Pokémon craze for many trainers.
This particular graphic style is not well received by everyone – at least not for “that long”. Trainers found it amusing as a short gag but are now wondering when the familiar graphics will return.
Pokémon GO Pixel Graphics – How long will it last?
The new graphics in Pokémon GO will only be active for a few more days.
On the official Pokémon website, it states that this retro look will likely remain in the game until Saturday, April 7, 2018.
On one side, trainers are glad that the new graphics will soon be deactivated. Others would be happy if it could stay in the game longer. But in a way that doesn’t disturb anyone.
Reddit user goodben888 submitted a suggestion in the subreddit TheSilphRoad to keep the 8-bit style as an option for private raids in the game.
This way, no player would be forced to be disturbed, but would only occasionally see the sight of the pixel monsters. Fans of this graphic could then access it at any time and continue to view a portion of the monsters in retro style. With this suggestion, even players who dislike the appearance are satisfied. Reddit user Timdesuyo writes: “As an 8-bit hater, I can say that I’m okay with it.”
Perhaps Niantic will leave an option in the game after the positive feedback, allowing players to decide for themselves on the look.
