In Pokémon GO catching all Unown is a difficult task. Because the monsters do not spawn as nests – their location is often at events.

A big goal: Trainers want to complete their PokéDex in Pokémon GO. Those who take it seriously must catch all 26 or 28 forms of Unown. They come from A to Z and as punctuation marks. This species is one of the hardest to find.

At home at events: This high rarity is achieved by Unown because they usually appear only at special occasions. Outside of events, you encounter them only sporadically. So, how do you find them and at which events have they appeared?

Catching Unown in Pokémon GO – What makes it special

Unown, in English Unown, is one of the rarest Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Even in large cities, it can happen that you only experience a single spawn a day.

Collectors want it: Due to its many different forms, it is especially sought after by collectors. However, it also tests the patience of trainers because collecting all of their forms requires a lot of luck and time.

Not a strong fighter: It is not its combat stats that make Unown so desirable. Its rarity distinguishes this species.

What forms of Unown are there in Pokémon GO?

Did not always exist in the game: Unown came to Pokémon GO with Generation 2.

Appearing in these forms: There are 26 letter forms of Unown. Additionally, there are forms as a question mark and as an exclamation mark.

Are these 28 different Pokémon or just forms?

What does the PokéDex say? For Unown, there is only one PokéDex entry. So you could say that it is seen in Pokémon GO as 1 monster with 28 forms. The Unown in the various letters or punctuation marks are different forms.

Like event Pikachu with hats: Compare Unown to Pikachu when it sometimes wears a sunglasses or Ash’s hat at events. It remains a Pikachu, but with different headgear.

Are there Unown nests in Pokémon GO?

No nests: Unown does not have its own nests in Pokémon GO. This behavior is known from other rare Pokémon like Lapras or Larvitar, which also do not have nests. What are nests in Pokémon GO?

Spawn behavior imprecise: No one really knows when and where Unown will spawn. If they are not frequently appearing at special events, they are rarely scattered in cities and villages.

Unown from eggs?

When hatching eggs, you currently have no chance to obtain an Unown. Since this Pokémon is so extremely rare, we do not assume that Niantic will distribute it soon as a catch from eggs.

Unown from incense or through lure modules

Few reports: It is still not completely clear whether Unown can appear from incense or lure modules. Few trainers have reported about this.

Should be possible: We assume that spawns of Unown through incense or lure modules are possible. However, they will still be extremely rare. So it hardly makes sense to ignite lures just for Unown. But if you already have them activated, you should keep an eye out.

Unown medal in Pokémon GO

Particularly tricky: In Pokémon GO, there is an Unown medal. Bringing it to gold status is extremely difficult. Because each form counts only once. If you catch the same form multiple times, it will only count once for the medal.

Bringing this medal to a gold status is a significant achievement in Pokémon GO. An award that only very few trainers achieve.
