What kind of Pokémon is this? Makabaja is a Ghost-type Pokémon. It comes from the fifth generation of games and can evolve into Echnatoll.
There is also a Galar form of Makabaja. It is a Ground and Ghost-type. You can evolve it as well, and it will then turn into Oghnatoll.

Can Makabaja be shiny? Yes, the shiny form is available in Pokémon GO – from both variants. On research day, you also have an increased chance of obtaining the shiny variant of both monsters when you complete the research tasks.

Your focus should be: The shiny hunt is the most exciting aspect of this research day, because Makabaja and its evolutions are relatively weak in battles. They are not among the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO.
Therefore, you should try to find as many specimens as possible to have a good chance of encountering a shiny.
To do this, you need to walk, as Makabaja hides behind various field research tasks on research day. To complete as many as possible, you need to pick them up at different PokéStops and finish them as quickly as possible.

What else will appear on research day? Some additional monsters will appear in the wild. You can also encounter them as shiny, but the chance is not increased. These are:
