On Sunday, September 19, 2021, another Community Day will take place in Pokémon GO. This month’s event features the Pokémon Ottaro. We at MeinMMO have looked into what you can expect on this day and which bonuses you can look forward to.
What kind of event is this? The Community Day is a special day in Pokémon GO where a predetermined Pokémon takes center stage. During the event, this Pokémon spawns more frequently, and the shiny rate is significantly increased. Thus, you have a good chance of catching one or even several of them.
In addition to the Pokémon, there are numerous bonuses waiting for you. In September, the Community Day revolves around the Water-type Pokémon Ottaro.
Community Day in September 2021 – Start Time and Bonuses
When? Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time
Pokémon of the Day: Ottaro will spawn more frequently during the event and will be attracted by rainy lure modules
Exclusive Attack:
– Hydro Cannon if you evolve Ottaro into Admurai within two hours after the event
– Waterfall, Admurai can permanently learn this, even after the event
Bonuses:
– 3x XP for catching Pokémon
– Incense lasts 3 hours
– Lure modules last 3 hours
You will have 6 hours on Sunday again to catch Ottaro during the Community Day. Use incense and/or lure modules to catch even more Ottaro. Thus, playing from home is generally possible.
What’s in the In-Game Shop: In relation to the Community Day, you can purchase additional content in the in-game shop:
- The Ottaro special research “From Shell to Longsword” for 1.00 Euro
- A box for the Community Day with 50 Ultra Balls, 5 Lucky Eggs, 5 rainy lure modules, and a Premium Raid Pass for 1,280 coins
How to Make the Most of the Community Day in September
Make these preparations: Something that you need for all events in Pokémon GO are balls. Because without them, you can’t catch any Pokémon. To avoid having to spin a PokéStop or Gym immediately, we recommend having a stock of at least 350 balls.
Of course, you should also clear space in your Pokémon storage beforehand. Then you won’t have to constantly evaluate your caught Pokémon and can fully concentrate on catching.
Use these items for the Community Day: Just like with other Community Days, Ottaro brings you a special charged attack. If you want to evolve the Water-type Pokémon into Admurai to get it, it will cost you some candies. This is one reason to catch as many Ottaro as possible.
Another reason is the XP bonus you receive for catching Pokémon. To attract as many Ottaro as possible, you should use incense and rainy lure modules during the event. Both lasts 3 hours on that day. So if you play the full time, you will need 2 of each.
To increase your candies, you should also keep a few Nanab Berries ready. Using Lucky Eggs can also be beneficial on this day. They double your XP for half an hour.
Is the Community Day Worth It?
How strong will it be: Ottaro is a starter Pokémon from the 5th generation of Water type. It can evolve into Admurai via Zwottronin. Ottaro is not strong, and Zwottronin also does not impress with its stats in attack, defense, and stamina.
The 3rd evolution Admurai can show slightly better stats, but still doesn’t belong to the strongest attackers in the game. Thus, all three forms are rather poor candidates for use in raids or the PvP League (via pvpoke.com).
Is there a Shiny version of Ottaro? Yes, you can encounter Ottaro in its shiny form in the game. You can recognize Ottaro by its blue suit and pink nose. Its evolution Zwottronin, on the other hand, has a turquoise body and a purple skirt.
In Admurai, the difference is particularly clear. This Pokémon has a dark blue body and bronze armor in its shiny form.
Is the event worth it? Yes, even though Ottaro and its evolutions are not among the strongest Pokémon, you should take advantage of the Community Day. This especially benefits shiny hunters. But that is not the main reason why the event is worth it.
Due to the triple XP bonus for catching Pokémon, this event is particularly suitable for trainers who still need experience points to level up to level 50. It offers you a good opportunity to farm a decent amount of XP on that day.
