The Community Day in January 2019 is approaching for Pokémon GO. On this day, Totodile is in the spotlight. Its second evolution, Feraligatr, learns a special move.
What’s new? On Saturday, January 12, 2019, the first Community Day of the new year begins. The special Pokémon on this day is Totodile. The developers have now announced that Feraligatr can learn the move Hydro Cannon if you evolve it from Croconaw during this event.
Community Day Move – How strong is Feraligatr?
In the Pokémon GO community, many have already anticipated that the move for Feraligatr will be Hydro Cannon. Because Blastoise was able to learn this move during the Community Day in July 2018.
This is how strong Feraligatr will be with the move: On Reddit, trainer drewlase writes that you shouldn’t write off Feraligatr now. As a pure water attacker, Feraligatr ranks third behind Kyogre and Gyarados when it masters the moves Waterfall and Hydro Cannon. So if you lack a strong water attacker in your team, Feraligatr with these moves is definitely a good choice.
Feraligatr could theoretically be even stronger: An even stronger combination would be Feraligatr with Water Gun and Hydro Cannon. However, it is not possible for Feraligatr to learn both moves at the same time. Because Water Gun is a Legacy Move, it can no longer be learned. And to get Hydro Cannon, you must evolve a new Croconaw into Feraligatr.
Community Day in January 2019 – The Bonuses
What you need to know: The following details of the Community Day in January 2019 are now known:
- The event time is, as usual, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM – On Saturday, January 12
- Wild Totodile will appear more frequently
- Lures last for 3 hours instead of 30 minutes
- If you evolve Croconaw into Feraligatr during the event, Feraligatr will learn Hydro Cannon
- This also works for an hour after the event ends
- Egg incubators have four times the speed. You only need to cover a quarter of the distance to hatch eggs
