The next Halloween event has been announced in Pokémon GO. And this is causing frustration in the community.
Just recently, the first part of the Halloween event 2025 in Pokémon GO was announced. It starts on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM and runs until Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
The name suggests that there will also be a 2nd part of the event this year, as in previous years. A new image on Pokémon GO’s X channel now reinforces this assumption. However, the image is causing frustration in the community.
New Year, Old Pain
What can be seen in the image? The image shows a street with houses on the sides. Additionally, within the image, the silhouettes of various Pokémon are depicted. These seem to be Noibat, Noivern, Teddiursa, Ursaring, Ursaluna, Drifblim, Piplup, Pikachu, and Gengar.
Moreover, it can be seen that some of the silhouettes are costumed variants of the monsters. For example, Drifblim and Gengar clearly show hats worn by the Pokémon.
What else is known about the event? Other information, besides the teaser image, is not yet available. However, it is to be expected that the event will closely follow the 1st Halloween event.

What is bothering the community? Both under the post on X and on Reddit, many commentators write that they are missing a specific monster in the image: Mimikyu. The monster is of the Ghost and Fairy types and has not yet been released in Pokémon GO.
Since it fits thematically perfectly with the Halloween theme, some trainers wait each year during the Halloween events for the Pokémon to be announced.
Some of the comments regarding this are:
- “Literally everyone zooming in 400x to find Mimikyu,” writes @BraxtonComix
- “So, we are either going to see Mimikyu: 1. Next Halloween, 2. Alola event in early 2027 or 3. Mimikyu will be lost in the void with Arceus, Manaphy, and Phione,” says @LilMissLiz8
- In response to another comment, which speculates that Mimigma will come next year, chatchan on Reddit says: “It’ll be next year for the next ten years”
- SheevTheSenate66 also writes in the Reddit post: “Coping hard here, but next year is Sun and Moon’s 10th anniversary where Mimikyu was introduced, so the chances of Mimikyu coming next year is at least higher”
