In Pokémon GO, the current Deoxys form is difficult to defeat alone, but players prove it is possible.
Why is it so difficult? Currently, the initiative form is in EX Raids. It has a fairly high defense value, which makes it not easy to defeat.
While the defense form has been defeated with 5-6 players, the attack form of Deoxys can be easily defeated alone. The initiative form actually requires 3 players, but two strong trainers managed to do it in a duo.
This is how to defeat the initiative form in a duo
The player “kiengiv”, known for spectacular raid battles, has shown in a video how to defeat Deoxys as a duo. Together with trainer “SparklTangerine”, he completed the raid:
What is special: The two players defeated Deoxys without a weather bonus. The best counters, Ghost and Dark Pokémon, are only boosted by foggy weather. However, this weather is extremely rare, so it shouldn’t be relied upon.
These Pokémon you need for this: The two trainers used a full team of Gengar. It deals the most damage among the counters, but doesn’t withstand much damage.
Since Deoxys did not have a strong attack and its attack value is not convincing, 6 Gengar managed to defeat it without reviving. In the end, it got very close, so the trainers had to dodge.
In the end, only 5 seconds were left. It was really tight, and one cannot set up a better counter team.
Why this battle is special: According to raid simulations, Deoxys is not achievable in a duo without benefiting from the weather bonus.
This involves very strong Pokémon and a bit of luck with the use of Deoxys’s charged attacks.
These raid challenges are also tough: Trainers are constantly facing difficult tasks in raids. We show you some highlights:
- Cresselia is defeated in a duo
- Kyogre is defeated with only Pikachu
- Dialga is defeated in a duo
- Palkia is defeated by two trainers
