In Pokémon GO trainers not only like to catch wild Pokémon, but also prove their skills in raids. And these are finally supposed to get a new feature that trainers have been wishing for 6 years. We at MeinMMO show you what it is about.
What are raids? In the arenas of Pokémon GO, so-called raid battles take place throughout the day. In these, a specific Pokémon, the raid boss, takes over the arena and it can be fought against this. Afterwards you get the opportunity to catch it.
In particular, level 5 raids are interesting for trainers because there are legendary monsters in these raids. For this, you usually need support from other players. That is different for 1 and 3 raids.
You can also manage these alone; however, you have to wait for some time in the lobby before it finally starts. Many trainers believe that a chance has been missed in the past to make adjustments here and to shorten the preparation time itself.
A new feature is supposedly going to change that soon. What it is, we have summarized for you below.
Find shows hints of start button for raids
What was found? The PokeMiners, a group of data miners, discovered hints of a new feature in the source code during their last search that trainers have been waiting for ages. They write on Twitter that a button named “Raid Ready” has been added to the data.
What is this about? Accordingly, the time in the lobby is soon to be able to be shortened by the trainers themselves. On their homepage, they also provide a detailed explanation of their findings with the texts from the source code. It shows that trainers will likely have the option to activate a “Ready” button. Then they cannot invite other players.
Once all trainers in the raid lobby have activated this button, the raid can basically start. The timer is supposed to count down the last seconds then. This is thus the last opportunity for players to leave the raid before it begins.
Below you see an excerpt of the texts in the source code (via pokeminers.com):
+TEXT: You can’t send invitations when you’ve indicated that you’re ready.

+TEXT: You need to wait for another Trainer before starting the raid.

+TEXT: When all Trainers are ready, the lobby timer will count down. You can still quit before the raid begins.

Trainers are excited about a new feature
This is how the players react: In the Pokémon GO community, the newly found feature is well received. Trainers have been demanding such a function for 6 years now to reduce waiting times in raids. How important that can be was shown by a raid day last year. But so far nothing has happened. Therefore, there is a great hope that this function will finally make it into the game (via reddit.com).
- yabucek:
From the wording, it sounds like there is still a timer, and readying only starts it? I hope they shorten it to 10 seconds if that’s the case.
But yes, it should have always been like this. Even waiting in the lobby to encourage randos to join will be better with a readiness button.

The technology for this has finally been invented!
However, there are also concerns that Niantic might backtrack on this. This is because, in recent days, an update has led to an expansion of the spawn radius, which trainers have greatly welcomed. After content creators initially announced that Niantic would keep this change in the game, the developers backtracked.
They announced that it was indeed a bug and that this would be removed from the game again. Some trainers now believe that this could also be the case for other quality-of-life changes in the future.
Trainers criticize the new raid feature
Solo raids: Furthermore, players also express criticism of the current state of the new feature. According to the source code, it seems you need to be at least two players in the raid lobby to activate the button and shorten the time. In the data from the PokeMiners, there is a section that notes that there are not enough players and you should wait for more trainers.
This would make the feature particularly uninteresting for smaller raids that you would like to do alone. Thus, trainers like Dry_Faithlessness457 ask in the comments on Reddit: Can’t “Ready for Raid” be activated for raids you do alone?
Activation of the button by everyone: Other players suspect that it only concerns the actual activation of the button. But that could also become a problem for some trainers if other players do not press it and the time counts down as usual again.
As Reddit user Fr00stee writes in the comments on Reddit: I’ll bet it’s something silly, like the raid only starts when the entire lobby clicks the “Ready” button.
How the new feature will actually work and whether it will even find its way into the game is still unclear at this time. Even though the PokeMiners have proven to be a reliable source in the past, they are still not official information, which is why Niantic can change or discard this data at any time.
If there are new information about a start button in Pokémon GO, you will find out here on MeinMMO.
How do you like the prospect of the new feature? Do you also hope it will come to the game soon? Or are you less active in raids? Feel free to let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments.

I will celebrate it when I see it, because the last quality-of-life update was removed very quickly…
