The legendary Pokémon Entei is currently a Raid Boss in Pokémon GO. We show you strategies on how to counter, defeat, and catch Entei. Here you will find Entei’s CP values and the Pokémon that are particularly effective against the legendary beast.
Entei is one of the three legendary beasts that first appeared in Pokémon Silver and Gold. The legendary dog or cat trio is now in Pokémon GO. Entei, Suicune, and Raikou appear worldwide as Raid Bosses.
However, currently only Entei can be caught in Europe, and thus also in Germany. Suicune and Raikou will appear later with us, as the legendary beasts go through a rotation across different continents. Entei can be caught in Germany until September 30th. After that, it will move to another continent.
The colleagues at PokémonGoHub recommend the following strategies to defeat Entei.
Entei CP Values: How strong is the Raid Boss

Entei is a pure Fire-type, which is why there is a wide range of counter Pokémon. Fire-types are weak against Water-types like Vaporeon. Water-types are the most common in the Pokémon universe.
- Entei Max CP: As a Raid Boss, Entei can have a maximum of 38628 CP – After catching, a maximum of 1930 CP, at level 20 and perfect IV score.
- Minimum number of trainers: It is impossible to defeat Entei alone. It takes at least 6-7 trainers to defeat the legendary beast.
- Entei’s weaknesses: Entei is a Fire type and thus weak against the types Water, Rock, and Ground.
Entei Raid Strategy: These Pokémon & Movesets are an Entei Counter
As a pure Fire Pokémon, Entei is particularly weak against Water. But also Pokémon of the Ground and Rock types have an easy time against Entei. Essentially, the fiery beast is a better version of Flareon.
Entei itself has a moveset that consists entirely of Fire attacks:
- Fire Fang
- Fire Spin
- Overheat
- Flamethrower
- Fire Storm
If you are in the Raid group, you should ideally have a mix of Ground, Rock, and Water with you.
These Pokémon are the top attackers against Entei – and the most effective.

- Ampharos with the movesets Rock Slide and Hydro Pump
- Vaporeon with the movesets Water Gun and Hydro Pump
- Golem with the movesets Rock Slide and Stone Edge
- Tyranitar with the movesets Bite and Stone Edge
- Gyarados with the movesets “whatever” and Hydro Pump
- Kingdra with the movesets Water Gun and Hydro Pump
There are even more good options to counter Entei. The following Pokémon and attacks are also recommended.
Other effective Entei counters:
- Dragonite with the move Outrage
- Rhydon with the move Stone Edge
- Feraligatr with the move Hydro Pump
- Lugia with the move Hydro Pump
No matter which Pokémon you choose, there should always be enough Hydro Pump power in the Entei Raid group!

Catching Entei – How low is your catch chance
Legendary Pokémon generally have a low catch chance and so does Entei.
- Entei Catch Chance: Your chance of catching Entei is only 2%
However, Razz Berries and Curve Balls increase your catch chance. The table below shows the changed catch chances when you throw Curve Balls and use Razz Berries or Golden Razz Berries.

The next legendary Pokémon could be Mewtwo, which only appears in exclusive raids.
