Lucky Egg gives a ton of experience points
With a Lucky Egg, you get double the amount of experience points for half an hour for all actions that provide experience points in Pokémon GO. This includes not only using PokéStops, but also catching various Pokémon. Especially important are new and repeated evolutions of individual Pokémon. In this overview, you can see how many experience points each action brings in Pokémon GO while a Lucky Egg is active:
- Catching a Pokémon for the first time: 1200 XP (experience points)
- Catching a Pokémon you have already caught: 200 XP
- Nice throw: 20 XP
- Great throw: 100 XP
- Excellent throw: 200 XP
- PokéStops: 100 XP per activation
- Gym battles: Variable value x2
- Evolving a Pokémon for the first time: 2000 XP
- Evolving a Pokémon that you have already evolved: 1000 XP
Finding or buying Lucky Eggs
If Lucky Eggs bring so many advantages, it is only natural to ask: “Where do I get them?” You have the option to receive these eggs as gifts for level-ups, or to buy them in the in-game shop for real money. As shown in the overview of rewards in Pokémon GO, you get the first “free” Lucky Egg when you reach level 9. If you have already used it or do not want to wait that long, these eggs are also available for paid PokéCoins in the shop.
