You have the chance to catch Shiny Articuno if the global challenges for the Safari Zone in Dortmund are completed in Pokémon GO.
What has started? Today, on June 30th, is the first day of the Safari Zone in Dortmund. It will also run tomorrow, on July 1st. At the same time, the global challenges started in the morning of June 30th, which are to be solved during the Safari Zone.
These are the rewards: If different regions around the world meet their challenge goals, XP bonuses will be unlocked. If all regions manage to fulfill their goals, there will be Articuno Day with a chance to catch Shiny Articuno.
Safari Zone Dortmund: Global Catching
Two days to go: The Safari Zone in Dortmund is running today (Saturday, June 30th) and tomorrow (Sunday, July 1st). During this time you can solve the global catching challenges.
These are the challenges:
- Trainers in Dortmund during the Safari Zone must complete 100,000 research tasks
- This unlocks increased catching XP (presumably double)
- Trainers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa must collectively complete 5,000,000 research tasks
- This will unlock increased raid XP (also presumably double)
- Trainers in America must also complete 5,000,000 research tasks
- This will unlock increased egg-hatching XP (presumably double)
- Trainers in the Asia-Pacific region must also complete 5,000,000 research tasks
- This will make lucky eggs last up to 1 hour
- This will make lucky eggs last up to 1 hour
When will the bonuses be unlocked? The XP bonuses will be active the day after the Safari Zone, starting July 2nd.
How long are the bonuses active? The rewards last for one week and will be available until July 9th.
Shiny Articuno – the Articuno Day in Pokémon GO
What is the special bonus? If the Safari Zone challenge is completed in all regions, trainers around the world will receive an additional bonus. There will be 5 free raid passes for Articuno Day upon the first spin of a gym’s photo disc.
The Articuno Day: On Saturday, July 7th, the special bonus will be unlocked. Then there will be an Articuno event for 3 hours. The legendary ice bird will appear in raid battles worldwide.
Shiny Articuno: As Niantic reveals, there is even a chance to encounter Shiny Articuno. However, they did not disclose how high this chance will be.
Other legendary Shinies? It is possible that the bonuses from the other global challenges in Pokémon GO will provide Shiny Moltres or Shiny Zapdos as rewards.
