The Dyna Battle Day featuring Gigantamax Butterfree is coming up in Pokémon GO this weekend. Here’s what to expect.
What kind of event is this? The Dyna Battle Day is an event that focuses on a Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon. The event will take place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
During this time, you will find Gigantamax Butterfree at all energy sources. These will also respawn more frequently, you’ll receive 8 times the amount of Dyna particles at these locations, and the limit for Dyna particles is raised to 1,600. Additionally, you can conduct 2 extra special trades, and the limit for remote raids is increased to 20 (until August 4, 2025, at 5:00 AM).
The event is further enhanced by the fact that you will receive double the amount of Dyna particles while walking and the necessary distance is reduced by 75%.
4 Tips for Battling Gigantamax Butterfree
1. Use the Best Counters
Which attackers are suitable? The Gigantamax form of Butterfree, like its regular form, has the Bug and Flying types. Thus, it is weak against Electric, Fire, Flying, and Ice attacks. Rock attacks are even more effective, as the Pokémon has a double weakness to them.
Since there are currently few strong Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon with Rock attacks, you should rely more on the other types if in doubt. Strong attackers against Butterfree include:

3. Use the Right Strategy
You should definitely approach the battle against Gigantamax Butterfree with the right tactic. Use your defenders to absorb Butterfree’s attacks and charge your Dynamometer.
Once charged, switch to your attackers or, depending on your role, to the supporters. Execute your important and strong attacks now.

4. Fight with Enough Trainers
