The birthday event in Pokémon GO (Anniversary Event) starts today and brings a special Pikachu and a gift box into the game.
The fans had to wait long, and now Niantic brings the announcement just before the start of the event. Starting today, we are celebrating the first anniversary of Pokémon GO together with Niantic. The celebration is accompanied by a special Pikachu and a birthday box that holds many interesting contents.
Birthday Event Start
To celebrate the birthday of Pokémon GO, the special Anniversary Event starts today, on July 6th. The celebrations begin at the usual time at 1:00 PM PDT (approximately 10:00 PM German time). It is expected to end on July 24th. The official end will also be at 10:00 PM German time but could, as with other events, be set later in the game.
Anniversary Event Bonus
To celebrate with you the first birthday of Pokémon GO, you will have the opportunity in the game to catch a special Pikachu. It will wear the hat of Ash, the trainer of Pikachu you got to know from the anime series. This way, you have another opportunity at the birthday event to expand your Pokémon collection with another rare Pikachu.
You should find these special Pikachu freely in the wild.
Birthday Box
Additionally, there is a new gift box in the game that you must buy for yourself. The Anniversary Box contains many cool items that are useful for every trainer. These include incubators, max revives, Ultra Balls, and a Raid Pass.
This box is available in the in-game store at a promotional price. The advertised “promotional price” suggests that this box can still be purchased after the event in the shop, but likely at a higher price.
In the coming weeks, we should expect more interesting news, including special events at Unibail-Rodamco locations.
