Pokémon GO now offers you the chance to receive more rewards with your friends. You don’t even have to be nearby.
In Pokémon GO, the weekly challenges were introduced in October. You should receive rewards when you complete a challenge with friends, which you have a week to finish.
However, there were issues right at the start, and the feature was deactivated after just one day. Now that the feature is being gradually reintroduced into the game, it’s finally time for you and your friends to get started.
7 Days, One Reward
How do the challenges work? To take on a weekly challenge with your friends, you first need to form a group. To do this, click on your profile in the game and navigate to the new “Groups” tab.
There, you can click on “Choose Crew” and then invite up to 3 friends. They have 24 hours to accept your invitation. If you are invited to a group, you will receive a notification and also have 24 hours to accept the invitation.
In the “Groups” tab, you can also see what the current weekly challenge is and how far along your collective progress is. This could be something like “Catch 500 Pokémon” or “Spin 250 PokéStops or Gyms”.
What rewards can you earn? Once you complete a challenge, you will receive the following rewards:
- 20,000 experience points
- 6,000 stardust
- additional progress in friendship level
Since the tasks that have been known so far should be relatively easy to complete in a group of 4 players within a week, the rewards are a nice bonus without requiring additional effort.
If your group does not successfully complete a task, you will still receive some stardust for your efforts.
How long does a challenge last? According to the latest statement, you have until Tuesday at 1:00 AM to complete a weekly challenge. At that time, you can then pick up a new challenge and complete it.
You can of course complete the weekly challenges while attending events. And there will be several of those for you in the coming weeks. You can find out what they are and when they will take place in our overview with all events in December 2025 in Pokémon GO.
