The field research in April 2020 from Pokémon GO gives you various tasks again to earn rewards. We will show you all the quests here.
What is new? For April 2020, Niantic brought another handful of new quests into the pool that you can pick up by spinning photo discs.
However, not everything is new. There are also tasks that you’ve been finding repeatedly for months.
All quests in April 2020
Where does the information come from? Shortly after the switch of the field research, trainers are compiling their findings in the “TheSilphRoad” subreddit. With this information, we create this summary.
Keep in mind that Pokémon names marked with a * can also be found in shiny form.
As a great bonus in breakthrough research, you will receive an encounter with Alolan Exeggutor in April.
Throws – In these quests, you should throw well
- Land 5 great curveball throws in a row
- Reward: Encounter with Pandir #8
- Land 5 good throws
- Reward: Encounter with a Voltorb
- Land 3 great throws
- Reward: Encounter with a Gastly*, Anorith*, or Lileep*

Catching – Here you should catch certain Pokémon
- Catch a Dragon-type Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Dratini*
- Catch 5 weather-boosted Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Swablu* or Vulpix
- Catch 10 Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Magikarp*
- Catch 3 different Grass-type Pokémon
- Reward: 3 Rare Candy
- Catch 3 Grass-, Fire-, or Ground-type Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Tuska
- Catch 3 Rock-type Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Magcargo

Battles – Compete in raids, against trainers, or otherwise with Pokémon
- Battle against another trainer
- Reward: Encounter with a Burmy (Plant)
- Win a battle against a trainer in the GO Battle League
- Reward: Encounter with a Lotad *
- Win 5 raids (may be removed)
- Reward: Encounter with an Aerodactyl*
You currently have to do without some gym and raid field research.
Hatching Eggs – Can also be done from home
- Hatch an egg
- Reward: Encounter with a Leafy

As you can see, some research has now been removed that used to be a fixed part of Pokémon GO. This is mainly because you are not supposed to go outside for the game anymore. Niantic has also expanded the radius for gyms.
