Trade feature for Pokémon GO on the way! Surprisingly, Niantic announced that you can add friends in Pokémon GO this week and increase your friendship level with them. Together, you can go on adventures and even trade Pokémon. Trainers have been waiting a long time for this feature!
Add Friends in Pokémon GO
When does the friends feature start? Niantic stated that it should start “by the end of the week.” So, at the latest, on June 24, 2018.
What’s new? Once the feature is activated, you can add other trainers as friends in Pokémon GO. With them, you can trade Pokémon, increase your friendship level, or even send gifts.
How do I add a friend? For this, you need the trainer’s ID number. You enter this code in Pokémon GO. After that, the trainer must accept the request, and you will be friends in the game.
Special gifts only for friends: When you spin photo discs from stops or gyms, you can receive a special gift as a reward. However, these gifts cannot be opened by you, only by friends. Through the friendship feature, you can send them to other trainers.
What is in the gifts? They can contain special eggs. From these eggs, Pokémon emerge in their Alolan forms. So far, this only applies to Pokémon from the Kanto region. It is unclear whether only Exeggutor or also other Alolan forms are already included in the system.
Pokémon GO: Everything About Friendship Level
What is the friendship level? If you send a gift to a friend or participate in a raid together, your friendship level increases. When the level rises, you can unlock bonuses when you play together.
Super Friend! If the friendship level reaches Super Friend, you get an attack bonus for your Pokémon during joint raid battles. Per day, you can increase the friendship level of each friend once.
Trade Feature in Pokémon GO
When you trade Pokémon with friends, you also increase the friendship level. If you are near a friend and are at least level 10, you can trade captured Pokémon with friends.
Rewards for trading: By successfully trading a Pokémon, you receive an additional candy for the species. The bonus increases if the Pokémon was caught “at a faraway place.” How far that is, Niantic did not explain.
Costs for trading: For each trade, you must spend Stardust. How much that is, is unclear. Some trading actions cost more than others. A higher friendship level makes the trade cheaper.
Can you trade legendary Pokémon? Legendary, shiny, or Pokémon not yet in your Pokédex are only accessible through a special trade. Such a special trade can only be done once a day and works only with Super Friends or Best Friends. Often, you must invest a large amount of Stardust for this.
