You want to evolve Cosmog in Pokémon GO? We will show you everything about the evolutions Cosmovum, Solgaleo, and Lunala and what tips you should keep in mind.
What kind of Pokémon is Cosmog? Cosmog was released with the special research “A Cosmic Companion” in Pokémon GO. We will show you how to evolve Cosmog.
The evolutions Solgaleo and Lunala were activated during the Astral Eclipse event.
Evolving Cosmog – Cosmovum, Solgaleo, or Lunala
How do the evolutions work? You can initially evolve Cosmog into Cosmovum. The next evolution would then be from Cosmovum to Solgaleo or Lunala.
- Evolving from Cosmog to Cosmovum – Costs 25 candies
- Evolving from Cosmovum to Solgaleo – Costs 100 candies
- You need to evolve Cosmovum during the day
- Evolving from Cosmovum to Lunala – Costs 100 candies
- You need to evolve Cosmovum at night
- Whether it is day or night can be determined in the game by looking at the sky. If it is dark and shows the moon, it is night. To be safe during the evolution, try to do it in the middle of the day or deep at night. If you attempt this shortly before a transition, you might get an unwanted evolution.

Can’t evolve to Cosmovum? If the evolution button is not displayed for your Cosmog, you must first reach Step 5 of the special research “A Cosmic Companion”. You will receive the 25 candies for the evolution by successfully completing Step 4 of the special research.
Still can’t evolve?
Collecting candies for evolution: You can’t find Cosmog in the wild, which makes collecting candies difficult. It is best to use it as a buddy to earn enough for the evolution.
Finding & catching Cosmog – Where can you find it?
Initially, you could only find Cosmog in the special research for the Season of Light and receive it as a reward there.
Trainers initially did not want to evolve their Cosmog, even though there was a possibility. They preferred to keep their base evolution and not change it. But Niantic promised that there will be more Cosmog in the future and that the first encounter from research would not remain the only way to catch the popular Pokémon.
Since June 2023, you have another opportunity to encounter Cosmog. The special research “Starry Sky” will provide you with an encounter with the Pokémon when completed.
