What kind of Pokémon is Grolldra? Grolldra comes from the eighth generation of games and features the rare type combination of Dragon and Ghost. It first appeared in the “GO aufs Ganze” event and has been found in Pokémon GO since then.
Can Grolldra evolve? Yes, it can. It first evolves into Phandra and then into Katapuldra.
This is special: Katapuldra belongs to the “pseudo-legendary” Pokémon. This term refers to monsters that are fundamentally as strong as legendary Pokémon based solely on their stats but do not belong to this group themselves. Thus, it stands alongside:
- Dragonite
- Tyranitar
- Salamence
- Metagross
- Garchomp
- Hydreigon
- Gastrodon
- Dragapult
- Espathra
Noteworthy: All these Pokémon are now available in Pokémon GO, and at their release, they were all very rare and difficult to catch. The same goes for Grolldra.
How to get Grolldra and its evolutions in Pokémon GO?
Catching Grolldra: Currently, there are the following ways to obtain Grolldra.
- Wild: Grolldra can be caught in the wild, but you need luck to encounter it. If you see it as a shadow on your “Nearby” screen, don’t hesitate to catch it.
- Eggs: Grolldra can be hatched from 10km eggs. It is currently in the second rarest tier, the only one rarer is the extremely rare Ignivor.
- Trade: If you don’t have Grolldra but your friends do, you can trade for it.
Evolving Grolldra: To evolve Grolldra, you need candy. So use Razz Berries or Silver Razz Berries when you encounter it in the wild, or use Grolldra as a buddy to collect candy.
- With 25 candies, you can evolve Grolldra into Phandra
- For 100 candies, Phandra evolves into Katapuldra
Best moves for Katapuldra: Since Grolldra itself isn’t very useful, we will show you the best moves for its final evolution. Once you evolve into Katapuldra, you can use it for battles. Use the following moves for PvP:
- Surprise Attack
- Wide Attack
- Shadow Ball

For raids, Katapuldra is currently also suitable, although for both of its types you can find better monsters among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Nevertheless:
