Niantic has officially confirmed that something is set to change with the invitations for EX-Raids in Pokémon GO. Many trainers were unhappy with the system and found it unfair.
The exclusive raids in Pokémon GO offer trainers special battles. You can only participate in the EX-Raids if you have been invited. Then you have the chance to battle a rare monster and, if you’re lucky, capture it. Currently, it is Mewtwo.
However, the system still has its drawbacks and is seen as unfair by many trainers. Due to player feedback, there are now changes to the invitations.
Received EX-Raid Invitation – This is set to change
On Twitter, Niantic’s support confirmed that the team wants to “improve the invitations”. Based on community feedback, the developers aim to enhance the system.

It is currently unclear what “improving the invitations” means. It is assumed that more trainers will be invited to the EX-Raids in the future. There has been much criticism from players in recent weeks.
The biggest criticism of the current EX-Raid system is the element of chance. No one really understands what Niantic is doing and how the invitations are distributed. Hardcore players and casuals alike report missing invitations.
The only requirement for an invitation to the EX-Raids was that trainers must have completed a successful raid battle in the respective arena where the EX-Raid takes place.
The EX-Raids currently have many weaknesses
Initially, the exclusive raids sounded good in Niantic’s announcement. Trainers were excited that they could finally catch rare Pokémon like Mewtwo. However, there has been increasing criticism in recent weeks due to the rarity of invitations.
There are many aspects that Niantic could and should improve about the system. Greater transparency would likely be best so that trainers can understand and fulfill the requirements. Waiting for a random invitation is simply not fun.
To implement these changes, players do not need a new update. Niantic can solve this on the server side. Therefore, we hope that the next invitations will reach a broader audience of trainers.
