Is Ditto the new “must-have Pokémon in the arenas of Pokémon GO? What Pokémon form does it take in battle?
Two days ago, Ditto appeared for the first time in Pokémon GO. Well, if you don’t count the videos with hacked games, then it’s the first time. Now trainers can legally catch this extraordinary Pokémon without modded games. If you caught it, the question arises whether Ditto is good for fighting or training in the arena. We show you how Ditto performs in the arena.
Ditto: Transforming in the Arena
It’s not easy to catch a Ditto, as it disguises itself as another Pokémon. That means any Pokémon could be a form of Ditto. This is an interesting trick from Niantic, as trainers no longer circumvent the masses of Pidgey, but catch them again. There could be a Ditto behind it. Whether it really is a shapeshifter will be revealed after you catch a wild Pokémon. Afterwards, it might transform into a Ditto.
In arena battles, Ditto uses its transformation to adopt the form and attacks of another Pokémon. On the Pokémon GO website, the developers announced how uniquely a Ditto interacts with arenas.
If you train or fight with this Pokémon in the arena, Ditto will copy the appearance, type, and moves of the first Pokémon it battles against. These attributes do not change but remain for the rest of these arena battles. So be careful which Pokémon you use your Ditto against.
If a Caterpie is your first opponent, but then Vaporeon and other strong Pokémon are waiting for you, you should only use Ditto after defeating Caterpie. In our overview, you can see the 15 strongest Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
