Pokémon GO confirms the period for increased Shiny chance

The Community Day in Pokémon GO is approaching and Niantic confirmed how long the chances of Shinies are increased.

The Community Day in December will be special. It is not just about one Pokémon, but about eleven of them. These eleven Pokémon will spawn more frequently from Friday evening to Monday morning worldwide. All information about the Community Day has been summarized in our guide.

Now Niantic revealed via Twitter that all these Pokémon will appear more frequently in their Shiny forms throughout the entire weekend.

Shinies throughout the whole weekend

A big question players had about the Community Day in December: Will there be an increased Shiny rate throughout the entire weekend? This is usually only available during the three hours of a regular Community Day.

Niantic confirmed the increased chance: On Twitter, the Niantic Support answered a user’s question about whether the chances of Shinies are increased throughout the entire weekend as follows: “Hello Trainer, you will see the increased Shinies all weekend long. Only the bonuses are available in the three-hour window.”

What does increased chance mean? If Niantic stays true to itself, then the chance of encountering a Shiny during a Community Day is 1 in 25. This is the players’ theory.

Loads of Shinies: If the chance is also 1 in 25 during this Community Day, then players can look forward to a lot of Shinies. On good Community Days, players already got over ten Shinies in three hours. If you calculate that for the entire weekend, you will be able to see plenty of Shinies.
