Pokémon GO: Community Day with Chikorita – What You Need to Know

On Saturday, September 22, the Community Day featuring Chikorita starts in Pokémon GO. We will show you what bonuses and shinies are available for you.

Community Day in Pokémon GO: These are events that take place once a month. Usually on one day for three hours. During this event period, a selected species of Pokémon appears particularly frequently in the wild. The Pokémon or their evolutions can learn a special move and appear in their shiny form.

Community Day in September – Bonuses and Times – GMT+0?

But in the game it says 9 AM to 12 PM GMT +0? The event time in the Pokémon GO app does not account for the German time zone. We are GMT +2 and therefore need to add 2 hours to this time. So the event runs as usual from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Triple XP when filling the PokéDex: At the same time, the Kanto Event is currently happening. This is your best chance to fill your Gen 1 PokéDex in Pokémon GO.

Shiny Chikorita, Bayleef and Meganium

What are the chances? So far, every Community Day has featured the special Pokémon also in a shiny variant. Therefore, it can be assumed that shiny Chikorita will also appear during the Community Day in September. You can simply catch them in the wild. Confirmation will be given only after the event starts.

Shiny Evolutions: If you evolve a shiny Chikorita, its evolutions Bayleef and Meganium will also be shiny.

Meganium with Flora Statue, how strong is it?

How do you get a Pokémon with Flora Statue? If you catch or evolve a Meganium during the Community Day on September from 11 AM to 2 PM, it will learn the move Flora Statue. TMs cannot teach this move to Meganium.

Meganium becomes stronger: With the new move, Meganium will definitely be more useful. However, it is still not the best Grass-type attacker.

In battle simulations, it has been shown that Meganium with Flora Statue only reaches about rank 14 among the best Grass-type attackers. So in the Grass meta, prefer proven Pokémon like Venusaur or Exeggutor instead.

Max CP for Chikorita – 100% IV values?

In what weather does Chikorita become stronger? Chikorita feels particularly comfortable in sunny weather and then strengthens its stats. So hope for sun for strong catches.

How strong is my Chikorita? Chikorita has a maximum of 687 CP at level 30 with 100% IV. With the weather boost, it can reach a maximum of 744 CP at 100% IV.

Item Preparation for the Community Day

• Lucky Eggs – 6 pieces
  • Lucky Eggs will help you particularly well this Saturday, as there is already 3x experience points for catching Pokémon. If you combine it with a Lucky Egg, you will receive 6x experience points for that. Since each lasts half an hour, it’s best to bring six Lucky Eggs for the 3-hour event.
• Incense – 6 pieces
  • Using Incense will allow you to find more monsters in the wild and simultaneously increase the chance of finding many Chikorita. More monsters mean more extra XP. Since Incense, like Lucky Eggs, only lasts for 30 minutes, we recommend bringing six pieces.

    

• Lure Modules – 3 or more
  • Lure Modules will give you even more Pokémon. It’s best to stay at a location with at least three stops and use the modules. Due to the event, one now lasts three hours.
• Poké Balls – at least 200
  • You should have plenty of Balls in your inventory so that you can catch Pokémon diligently and collect XP. 200 Balls or more are appropriate here.
• GO Plus – 1x
  • The GO Plus helps you catch Pokémon when you can’t look at your phone too much. It should also calculate your kilometers better than the app itself. This could help when hatching the 7 KM eggs with regional Pokémon.
