Pokémon GO Community Day in March – Everything you need to know

In March, the third Pokémon GO Community Day is coming and will once again attract many trainers outdoors. Previous events have already shown how popular these events are and that players enjoy participating. On March 25, there will be special Bulbasaur for you.

In this overview, we show you the most important information for the 3rd Community Day, so you can make the most of it.

3rd Community Day Start Time – Will Shiny Bulbasaur be available?

The third Community Day in Pokémon GO takes place on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at 11:00 AM German time. For three hours, until 2:00 PM German time, the event is active and rewards participants around the world with the special Pokémon “Bulbasaur”. Although you can catch it in the wild now, the event monsters are very special.

To participate in this event, you just need to play Pokémon GO within the mentioned time frame. While the chance to find Community Day Pokémon is increased in parks, generally you can find them everywhere.

Regarding the start time, we are receiving many questions here and on Facebook, especially since the clocks will be changed to daylight saving time on the morning of March 25. At 2:00 AM, the clocks will move one hour forward to 3:00 AM – so “one hour is missing”. However, Niantic announced the 3rd Community Day using the values of “Central European Summer Time”, which means that “11:00 AM to 2:00 PM” remains unchanged – that is the official event time.

Chance for Shiny Bulbasaur?

During the past Community Days with Pikachu and Dratini, these special event monsters also appeared as Shiny in the wild. The chance to obtain a shiny event Pokémon was significantly increased.

Even though it is not officially confirmed, we assume that for the 3rd Pokémon GO Community Day, Shiny Bulbasaur will be found in the wild. If you then evolve them, they will become Shiny variants of Ivysaur and Venusaur.

Community Day Event Bonuses – Flora Statue

During the Community Day, the following features and rewards are active:

• Start 11:00 AM – End 2:00 PM
• Incense last 3 hours instead of 30 minutes
• You will receive triple the amount of experience for catching Pokémon (Not for all actions in the game. Only for catching monsters!)
• The special Pokémon of the day is Bulbasaur. However, it doesn’t know the exclusive event move itself, but Venusaur does. If you evolve an Ivysaur into a Venusaur during the event time, Venusaur will know the move “Flora Statue”.
  • The Flora Statue move is one of the strongest Grass attacks in the game. It is definitely worth evolving Venusaur with this move. Learn more about the Flora Statue move in Pokémon GO here

    

Preparations for the 3rd Community Day in Pokémon GO

Besides the obvious preparations like wearing warm clothing (it’s best to check the weather report for Sunday before heading out), you should also prepare in Pokémon GO.

• Poké Balls are a must – many of them!
  • If you are playing with Pokémon GO Plus (which we can recommend for this event), you should carry many Poké Balls, as the gadget only throws with them. For manual throws, Ultra Balls and Hyper Balls are also interesting. It doesn’t hurt to have over 200 balls in your inventory. After all, you receive triple experience points for catching monsters, so you want to catch a lot.
• Incense and smoke for more monsters
  • To attract even more monsters, it is worth using Incense and smoke.
• Lucky Egg
  • If you use the event to level up your trainer level? Then activate a Lucky Egg before your catches to double your gained experience – you will have a total of 6x XP!

After catching Bulbasaur, you will surely want to know how strong the captured monster is. In this overview by Reddit user IAmTheAlleyCat, you will see values for 100% IV and CP of Bulbasaur.

Besides hunting for strong Bulbasaur, also consider that the Community Day is called that for a reason. The event provides a great opportunity to chat with other trainers from the community and make connections. Since the chance of finding Bulbasaur is likely increased in parks, you might meet many other Pokémon GO players there on Sunday.
