On Sunday, October 21, the Community Day with Beldum starts in Pokémon GO. We will show you what bonuses and Shinies are available and what you need to pay attention to.
What are Community Days? Community Days occur once a month in Pokémon GO and always revolve around a special Pokémon. This Pokémon will appear more frequently for three hours on that day. So far, there has been a shiny version of each event Pokémon that you could catch. Additionally, there are various bonuses that change every time during the three hours.
We will now show you what to expect in October during the Community Day featuring Beldum.
Community Day in October – GMT+0: Exact times and bonuses
- What: The Pokémon GO Community Day in October 2018
- When: On Sunday, October 21 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM German time (GMT+2)
- Pokémon of the day: Beldum
- Exclusive Move: Meteor Mash (Only for Metagross)
- Bonus: The distance to hatch eggs will be reduced to a quarter
- Bonus: 3-hour Lures
- Additional Bonus: To learn the exclusive move Meteor Mash, you can evolve your Metang until 3 PM
What does GMT+0 mean? In the in-game notification, Niantic refers to the start at 9 AM (GMT+0). However, this does not refer to German time. The German time zone is GMT+2. Therefore, the Community Day starts at 11 AM, as usual.
The date for the Community Day in November is also set.
Shiny Beldum, Metang & Metagross
Is there a Shiny version of Beldum? So far, Niantic has not confirmed that there will be a shiny version of Beldum for the Community Day. However, there has been a shiny form of the event Pokémon on every Community Day so far. Therefore, it can be assumed that Beldum will also have a Shiny form.
High probability: At the last Community Days, the chance of a Shiny was increased. Many trainers who used the full three hours of the event managed to catch Shiny variants of the event Pokémon.
Metagross with Meteor Mash – How strong is the move?
How does Metagross get Meteor Mash? Metagross can only obtain Meteor Mash by evolving. It cannot learn this move through a Charged TM. Trainers have the option to teach their Pokémon the move even after the Community Day. You can evolve your Metang until one hour after the end of the Community Day, that is, until 3 PM, to make Metagross learn Meteor Mash.
Metagross becomes stronger: The move Meteor Mash significantly improves Metagross. The Charged move has two bars and 100 base power. Players suspect that the new move, combined with Metagross’s high attack value, will make the Steel Pokémon an all-rounder. However, this can only be verified when the final values of the move are in the game.
Max. CP for Metagross – 100% IV values
This is how you get a weather boost for Beldum: Beldum is a Steel and Psychic type. This means that you get a bonus in windy weather and in snow.
How strong is Beldum in the wild? At the maximum level at which you can catch Beldum (Level 30), a 100% Beldum has 723 CP. With a weather boost, a 100% Beldum at maximum level (Level 35) reaches 783 CP.

Item Preparation for the Community Day
- Incubators or Super Incubators – 9 pieces
- The incubators will help you make the most of the event. You only need to walk a quarter of the normal egg distance. For a 10 km egg, this would only be 2.5 km. If you use Super Incubators, you only need to walk 1.67 kilometers for a 10 km egg to hatch.
- Keep in mind that the reduced egg distance only counts for eggs that are placed in the incubator after the event starts. Eggs that are already in an incubator before the Community Day starts do not receive the bonus for the shortened distance.
- Incense – 6 pieces
- Incense attracts additional Pokémon beyond the normal spawns. If you use the incense, you have even more chances to encounter a Shiny Beldum. Incense lasts for half an hour. So if you use six, you’ll be covered for the full three hours.
- Lures – 3 pieces or more
- Lures last for three hours during the Community Day. So use your lures. You can catch extra Pokémon there. If you need a break from walking, you can effectively stop by PokéStops with active lures. It’s best to find a place where you can reach three or more PokéStops and set your lures there.
- Poké Balls – at least 200 pieces
- Stock up on balls before the Community Day. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to catch all Beldum because you ran out of balls. Also collect Great and Ultra Balls. Some Beldum won’t stay easily in Poké Balls.
- GO Plus – 1x
- The GO Plus helps you catch Pokémon. You certainly won’t be able to catch every Pokémon. So optionally have a GO Plus with you to catch even more Pokémon and increase your chances of a Shiny Beldum.
