The Community Day in December in Pokémon GO is special. We will show you what you need to know.
What is a Community Day? A Community Day takes place once a month. On this day, players have the opportunity to catch a Pokémon for three hours at an increased rate. This Pokémon can also be found in its Shiny form. Additionally, there are other bonuses available during the three hours.
This Community Day is different: The Community Day in December is different from previous Community Days. The event runs over the entire weekend and focuses on all Pokémon that have had a Community Day so far. All bonuses that have been available until now will also be unlocked.
We will tell you what to expect on the days and how to prepare best.

This Community Day does not just last three hours, but spans three full days. During this time, you can catch all event Pokémon at an increased rate. The moves will also be available over the entire three days.
Bonuses only for three hours: If you want to snag the bonuses mentioned above, you should play between 11 AM and 2 PM on Saturday. Only during this time frame are the bonuses activated.

Will all Pokémon be Shiny for the Community Day in December?
Which Pokémon can be Shiny? It can be assumed that there is an increased chance of catching any of the Community Day Pokémon in its shiny form.
How high is the chance for Shiny Pokémon? The exact Shiny rate is unknown. So far, it has been about 1 in 25. If this increased Shiny rate is available for the entire three days, then many Shiny Pokémon can be expected. However, it might also be possible that the Shiny chances are only increased within the three hours on Saturday when the bonuses are active.
All Community Day Moves are Available
Over the entire three days, Pokémon can learn all previous Community Day moves. For this, they must evolve into the corresponding Pokémon.
Not through TMs: All moves can only be learned through evolution. A TM cannot teach any Pokémon the exclusive moves.

Preparations for the Community Day
- Poké Balls, Great Balls and Ultra Balls
- The balls are the most important thing for the days. Without the balls, you cannot catch Pokémon and collect candies. Therefore, make sure to stock up a large supply of balls. Especially the starters can be hard to catch. You should have several hundred Great Balls and Ultra Balls available.
- Star Pieces – 6 pieces
- During the three hours on Saturday, Star Pieces are worth it. With the bonuses and the Star Piece, you will receive three times the amount of Stardust for catching Pokémon.
- Lucky Eggs – 6 pieces
- Lucky Eggs are also effective during the three hours on Saturday. This way, you will receive four times the amount of XP for catching Pokémon.
- Incense
- You can use Incense without hesitation over the entire three days. You will hardly find a better opportunity to effectively attract good Pokémon with Incense.
- Lure Modules – 3 pieces or more
- During the three event hours on Saturday, the Lure Modules will last the entire three hours as well. So look for PokéStops to place your Lure Modules.
- Pokémon GO Plus
- This gadget helps you catch Pokémon. If you want to take a break, GO Plus can take over the catching for you. A good alternative to GO Plus is also the Pokéball Plus.
