On August 11 and 12, the Community Days with Eevee will take place in Pokémon GO. We will show you Max CP, Shinies, and what preparations are important.
This is a Community Day: Once a month, the Community Day event takes place in Pokémon GO. Typically, the event lasts three hours and features a special Pokémon that appears frequently in the wild during this time. This Pokémon species will then be in its shiny form. Additionally, they can learn an exclusive move.
What is special this time? This August, the Community Day will take place on two days. You can expect many Eevee that can learn the move Last Resort.
Community Day in August – Times and Bonuses
Chances for Shiny Eevee, Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Umbreon, Espeon
Shinies confirmed: Niantic already revealed before the start of the Community Days that you have the chance to catch Shiny Eevee. This is the shiny form that visually differs from the regular one.
Shiny Evolutions: If you evolve a Shiny Eevee into Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Umbreon, or Espeon, those evolutions will also be shiny. In the graphic below, you can see what they look like:
How many Eevee do you need to catch to obtain all Shiny forms?
This question is answered by Reddit user Bad_Neighbour. After many calculations, they came to the following conclusion.
- You need two Shiny Eevee to get a Shiny Umbreon and a Shiny Espeon
- For these evolutions, you need to walk with Eevee as your buddy for 10 kilometers. If you evolve it after reaching 10 kilometers during the day, it will become Espeon. If you evolve it after 10 kilometers at night, it will become Umbreon
- You need 10 to 13 Shiny Eevee to achieve a 95% to 98% chance of getting one Shiny Flareon, Shiny Vaporeon, and Shiny Jolteon
Combine these probabilities with the chance of getting a Shiny during a Community Day. About every 23rd to 25th catch of the exclusive Pokémon (Eevee) is a Shiny.
How many Eevee do you need to catch in total? You need to catch about 400 Eevee to get a Shiny for every existing evolution in Pokémon GO. This was calculated by Reddit user NotATakenNameOfUser. Keep in mind that this is just a probability. Some trainers have better luck with Shinies and need fewer Pokémon. Others might need even more.
You have two days: Although 400 Eevee catches sound like “a lot”, remember that you have two event days with three hours each to do so.
And Gen 4 Shinies? These are not yet in the game. If they come later, you should save two more Shiny Eevee. Then you can evolve them into Shiny Glaceon and Shiny Leafeon after their release.
Eevee and Evolutions with Last Resort
Eevee with Last Resort: If you catch Eevee during the Community Days, they will know the Normal move “Last Resort”. This special move can only be learned by Eevee caught or hatched during the event time. Eevee cannot learn this move with TMs.
And the evolutions: If you evolve Eevee that knows Last Resort, those evolutions will also know the attack. However, this should ideally happen during the event time. But there could be issues with Umbreon. Niantic has thought of that.
And at night? In the community, there was often the question of how Umbreon can learn “Last Resort”. Because you have to evolve Eevee at night (see above) to specifically evolve it into Umbreon. However, the event time is only during the day. As Niantic explains, you can evolve your Eevee until Monday evening at 10:00 PM. The evolutions will also learn the Last Resort move beyond the event (which is only during the day). Thus, the night evolutions count for Umbreon as well.

Item Preparation for the Community Day
A lot of Stardust: Because of the Stardust bonuses, you should definitely have Star Pieces in your bag. If you use these during the event, you will receive even more dust when catching Pokémon.
Poké Balls: Especially you shiny hunters should pack plenty of Poké Balls. As we explained above, you need to catch about 400 Eevee to obtain all current shiny evolutions.
Incense and Lures: We recommend these for every Community Day to further increase the yield of special monsters.
Checklist for one day:
- 6 Star Pieces
- 6 Incense
- Lures – quantity varies. Depending on how many stops are in your area. It’s best to have at least 2 or 3 stops nearby, and therefore you should also bring two or three lures.
- With the GO-Plus, you can also easily catch monsters and spin stops even if you don’t have much time.
