The Water Festival starts in Pokémon GO. A new Pokémon and some strong bonuses are included.
What kind of event is this? As the name suggests, the Water Festival is an event that focuses mainly on water monsters. It starts on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM and runs until Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 8:00 PM.
How do I get Nigiragi? Nigiragi, the Pokémon with the types Water and Dragon, makes its debut at the event. It has 3 different forms that you can challenge in Level-1 Raids, depending on your location:
- Nigiragi (Curved Form): Europe, Middle East, Africa
- Nigiragi (Hanging Form): America
- Nigiragi (Stretched Form): Asia-Pacific

What bonuses are available during the event? The following bonuses are active in Pokémon GO during the event:
- Rain Incense lasts for 2 hours
- more candies for nice, great, and excellent throws
- increased chance to encounter Shiny Starmie and Shiny Galapagos
- Lapras with scarf may have a special background if obtained through raids

All monsters marked with * can also be caught as Shiny.
Additional event contents: During the event, you can also complete event field research. Here, you can receive Mega Energy as well as encounters with event Pokémon as rewards.
Collector challenges are also part of the event again. Completing these will grant you experience points, stardust, and event Pokémon.
For $4.99 (approximately €5), you can also purchase a paid, limited-time research. If you complete it, you will receive 1 Rain Incense, an event avatar pose, as well as encounters with event Pokémon like Gyarados and Lapras with scarf. If you get the Hyper Ticket Box in the Pokémon GO web store, you will also receive a Star Piece.
Additionally, with the start of the event, new avatar items will be available in the shop. These are backpacks styled after the 3 Nigiragi forms.
