The next big event with Team Rocket in Pokémon GO is approaching. What will this Rocket takeover bring this time?
When does the event take place? The event Joyful Days: Takeover
will take place on August 11th. As always, it starts at 00:00. It ends on August 17th at 23:59.
What bonuses does the event bring? As usual, the takeover is all about Team GO Rocket. Accordingly, the bonuses are as follows:
- You will encounter many more Rocket grunts at stops and in balloons.
- Your Shadow Pokémon can forget the move “Frustration” using TMs without having to purify them. This makes them the best attackers in the game.
- Also, Shiny-Molunk will make its debut in the game.
- And a new special research revolving around Giovanni will start.
Additionally, many new Shadow Pokémon will also appear in the game.
What new Pokémon will the Rocket event bring?
The highlights: The latest Shadow Pokémon is Giratina. This one is held by Giovanni and must be freed by you. As usual, you need the Super Rocket Radar, which you can get from the special research.
Shadow Giratina is expected to be a top Pokémon for the Battle League, making it an exciting catch.
The second highlight is Shadow Kyogre. Although it has been in the game before, it is one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO ever. This time it will appear in Shadow Raids and can also be caught as Shiny for the first time. However, it is only available on August 16th and 17th!
More new Shadow Pokémon: The grunts will have the following new Pokémon:
- Shadow Staryu
- Shadow Dartiri
- Shadow Peppeck
- Shadow Mabula
Additionally, Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff will form new Shadow teams. Which ones is still unclear. We will keep you updated on that!
In Shadow Raids, you will encounter:
- Tier 1: Shadow Knofensa*, Shadow Griffel*, Shadow Teddiursa*, Shadow Samurzel*
- Tier 3: Shadow Girafarig, Shadow Absol*, Shadow Rollum
Possible Shinies are marked with an asterisk*.
In addition to the mentioned content, research tasks and collector challenges revolving around Team GO Rocket will also appear. However, the highlights remain Giratina and Kyogre, as well as the opportunity to get rid of Frustration. Speaking of highlights: There are still several dates this month that should be worthwhile in the game. We will show you all in the overview of all events in August 2025 in Pokémon GO.
