Pokémon GO is once again locking accounts of players who swear their innocence. Trainers suddenly cannot log in, and their progress is lost. What is going on?
This issue exists: On Reddit, several players report that their accounts have been locked. This is even true for accounts that are already at max level. So far, it is unclear why Niantic is taking these steps and why there has been a ban.
The problem is known: Earlier this year, there was a similar bug that deleted accounts of innocent players. At the beginning, there was also uncertainty about the cause. In the end, however, everything was clarified and resolved.
What players are saying about the deleted accounts
This is what the players say: On Reddit, player “Eloquentia” asked whether the bug from the beginning of the year has returned. A player from his community has been locked out and no one knows why.
The interesting part is that she is still shown as level 40 on her friends’ accounts, but when she tries to log back in, she only enters the game as a level 1 account.
Other players affected: In the comments of the thread, there are other players who are allegedly affected by this error. It seems to be no isolated case. Trainer “spadesix” reports a similar problem:
This happened to my level 40 account on April 24. My account is linked to Facebook. I know my password and am logged into Facebook. I have already tried uninstalling and re-downloading, but had no luck. I wrote an email to Niantic on April 25, but received no response, except for the automated one.

What can be done? If you are experiencing the same issues, you should try re-downloading the app and reconnecting. Additionally, contact Niantic Support.
If you still do not see any improvement, the only option is to wait. Earlier this year, it took several days for Niantic to unlock the affected accounts.
At that time, all players were compensated with PokéCoins and a Hyperbox. One can only hope that Niantic will respond to the complaints and take action in this case as well.
