As announced by Niantic, the arenas in Pokémon GO will be disabled today, June 19th. This step was taken a few minutes ago and the defenders in the gyms should now be back in your collection.
Some Pokémon may take a little longer to return. Some trainers report that they have not yet received their Pokémon. However, that should happen during the evening.
When the arenas will reopen is currently unclear.
Arena Deactivation on June 19 – Arenas Under Construction
The arenas in Pokémon GO are being revamped with many cool features. The developers have already announced in an update that there will soon be raid bosses and cooperative gameplay in Pokémon GO, where you will need to defeat extremely strong bosses.
To prepare the game and the arenas for this major rework, the arenas must be temporarily disabled. The developers took this step today around 6:00 PM and have initiated the return of the Pokémon. During the evening, you will get your fighters back.
There is a note above the arenas: “gyms_disabled_update”.
When will the arenas be reactivated?
Now that all arenas have been disabled, it’s soon time for the big update. However, when exactly this update will arrive is still not clear, as first the update must be prepared.
As soon as the update is available worldwide, the arenas will be reactivated and made accessible to trainers. From then on, there will be six permanent spots in the arena, without you having to train there first.
The battles against raid bosses will be gradually unlocked in the coming weeks and will initially only be accessible to players with a high account level. When these raid battles will start will be known soon. We will of course keep you updated.
