In Pokémon GO, you can expect the largest update the game has ever seen to arrive soon. The overhaul of the arenas has long been requested by players and is finally becoming a reality. Niantic has now announced what to expect from the arena rework in Pokémon GO. Additionally, there are videos showcasing individual features of the update.
Gym Update – Features in Videos
The new arena update in Pokémon GO offers you many different functions and features such as raid battles in co-op or new items like mysterious candies. With the announcement, the developers provided fans with a lot of information that now needs to be understood.
As help to understand, there were videos in the Pokémon GO press kit showing some of the new aspects. This includes battles, the hatching egg with the extremely strong raid boss, or feeding berries. This way, you can already get a first impression of the arena update before it can be downloaded on your smartphones.

Arena Battle Intro
- In this video, you see how to start a fight in the new arena. As explained in the announcement, attackers must face the defenders in the order they were placed in the arena. After the battle, Ursaring loses some CP and becomes weaker for the next attackers.
Feeding Berries in the Arena
- If a Pokémon is weakened, its motivation gauge drops, and it loses CP. You could already see this effect in the first video. To refill its CP and motivation gauge, you can feed your Pokémon berries.

- In this short video, you see what it looks like when entering an arena.
Raid Boss Egg Hatches
- Before a raid in Pokémon GO starts, a large egg appears above this arena with a countdown. Once the countdown has expired, the egg hatches and shows an extremely strong raid boss that you must fight. In this case, a Gengar with “weak” 19768 CP.
Raid Boss Video
- In this video, you see another raid boss in Pokémon GO. Tyranitar stands as a giant over the arena and shows upon entry that it has over 25346 CP. You can apparently also enter the battle in a private group.
