What kind of Pokémon is Flampion? Flampion is a Fire-type Pokémon from Generation 5. You can recognize it by its round, red body. Flampion has been available in the game since the Lunar New Year event in January 2020. However, it has been one of the monsters you can’t encounter regularly in the wild since the beginning.
In addition to the normal form of Flampion, there is also a Galar form. This one belongs to the Ice-type Pokémon and can be recognized by its white color. Just like the normal form, this Flampion also has a round body. With the help of 50 candies, you can evolve both forms into Flampivian or Galar-Flampivian.
Is there a Shiny Flampion? On the occasion of the 5th birthday of Pokémon GO, you can also encounter a shiny Flampion during the anniversary event. This one differs from the normal variant by its pink body. Important: You won’t find Galar-Flampivian in shiny form.

How strong will Flampion be?
Flampion itself is among the weaker Pokémon in Pokémon GO. As seen in the overview from PvPoke, the weak values in attack and defense are not enough to qualify as a candidate in the PvP league or in raids. Only the Element Cup is an exception.
For this, only Pokémon with a maximum CP of 500 and of the types Grass, Fire, or Water may be used. Due to its condition and the right moves, Flampion is among the best Fire attackers in the Element Cup.
How strong will Flampivian be?
Flampivian, on the other hand, has significantly better values. The evolution of Flampion is also a Fire-type Pokémon. In addition to the fast moves Fire Fang and Incinerate, it can also learn Tackle. It is somewhat more versatile with its charge moves.
You can teach Flampivian the Fire move Heat Wave, the Fighting move Focus Blast, the Psychic move Psychic, or the Rock move Rock Slide. Particularly in terms of attack and stamina, it can impress. However, its defense value is rather low.
With the right move combination, Flampivian can deal a lot of damage per second to the opponent – especially the moves Fire Fang and Heat Wave are suitable here.
However, due to its poor defense values, Flampivian is very susceptible to attacks from the opposing team.
Nevertheless, Flampivian is one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO and can definitely be used in raids and the PvP league. By the way: The Galar form of Flampivian can also impress with its attacks and values. For this reason, this monster ranks among the best Ice attackers.
Where can you find Flampion and Flampivian in Pokémon GO?
Basically, you can encounter Flampion in the wild. It is particularly supposed to be found in sunny and clear weather. Due to the current anniversary event for the 5th birthday of Pokémon GO, it spawns more frequently from July 6, 2021, at 10:00 AM to July 15, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time. You should take advantage of this opportunity to catch a strong specimen.
Additionally, this is your chance to collect as many candies as possible. You need these for developing and leveling up your Flampion. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a shiny specimen. After the event, it will probably become a bit rarer in the game.
Alternatively, you can also defeat Flampion in a Level 1 raid. The Galar form of the Pokémon, on the other hand, can only be obtained from 7 km eggs, so it is not easy to find. However, at least you can gather candies for the Galar version with the spawns of the normal Flampion variant until you obtain it through a trade or egg.
