The trainers in Pokémon GO will soon be able to participate in new challenges that will shake up the daily gameplay. This feature is announced as research assistance for Professor Willow, who is investigating mysterious things that may be related to the Pokémon “Mew”.

What are the quests in Pokémon GO?
For newcomers to online games, a quest is a mission or task given to you by the game. You complete this task and receive rewards for it.
The quests in Pokémon GO are divided into two different categories: field research and special research.
- Field Research
- You receive these tasks by spinning PokéStops.
- To complete the field research tasks, you must locate or catch certain Pokémon. Part of the tasks may also require you to participate in specific battles.
- Special Research
- This special research is presented and assigned by Professor Willow. How this selection system works is currently unknown.
- Through this research, trainers will delve deep into the story and world of Pokémon GO.
Possible objectives for quests could be:
- Catch a specific Pokémon
- Spin PokéStops
- Hatch eggs
- Complete a raid battle
- Feed Pokémon
- Walk a certain distance with your buddy
- Win gym battles
- Upgrade gym medals to a higher status (Gold)
Unlimited Quests per Day
There is no limit on the quests. This means you can solve as many research tasks per day as you want. For trainers who play diligently, this is a great motivation. This way, you’ll earn even more items or experience points.
Start – When Will the Quests Launch?
The start date for the quests in Pokémon GO is Friday, March 30. An exact time is not yet known.
Rewards for Pokémon GO Quests
For completing the research tasks, you will receive rewards in the form of items or experience points.
Additionally, you will receive a stamp once a day for completing research tasks. Unlike the unlimited quests, you can only earn a maximum of one stamp per day.
If you earn 7 stamps, you will achieve a research breakthrough, which will bring you even more rewards. There is also a chance to encounter a Legendary Pokémon.
Hints have already been made regarding “Mew”.

Niantic shared the first images of the quest system in action with media partners.
The symbol for quests (binoculars) can be found at the bottom right of the screen, above the display of nearby Pokémon. The weather display will move to the upper right corner.
The upper image shows the progress of field research. These provide tasks such as
- Catch a Dragon-type Pokémon
- Reward: 2x Rare Candy
- Win 3 Gym Battles
- Reward: 3x Hyper Potion
- Win 3 Raids
- Reward: 1x Charged TM
Additionally, we see a trash can on the far right in the task field. If certain tasks become impossible for you due to the environment, you can delete them with this.
This image shows the progress of special research. The tasks here include:
- Spin 5 PokéStops
- Reward: 500 XP
- Catch 10 Pokémon
- Reward: 500 XP
- Send 5 Pokémon
- Reward: 500 XP
This image shows the rewards for the research breakthrough. These include stardust, secret items, and a Pokémon that will then appear for you.
