What is a Spotlight Hour? A Spotlight Hour is an event that takes place every Tuesday for 60 minutes. During this time, you can expect at least one Pokémon that is in the spotlight and appears in high numbers, as well as a bonus.

When do the Spotlight Hours take place? Every Tuesday at 6:00 PM, the Spotlight Hour begins. Exactly 60 minutes later, at 7:00 PM, it ends. In the following table, you can see which Spotlight Hours await you in October. Pokémon that can appear as Shiny are marked with an *.

Spotlight Hour on October 7, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? Ferroseed awaits you in the first Spotlight Hour in October 2025. This Pokémon has the types Grass and Steel and comes from Generation 5. It has an evolution to Ferrothorn.
Which bonus is active? If you evolve a Pokémon during this event, you will receive double the amount of experience points. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you evolve – the bonus applies to every evolution you perform during the event in the game.
Is the event worth it? If you want to use Ferroseed and its evolution for raids, you might want to skip this one. Both Pokémon are not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
Neither Pokémon is particularly well-suited for the battle league.
If you are currently still farming experience points before the level system change, you can use this event to gain some additional experience points through evolutions. If you still use Lucky Eggs during this time, you will receive quadruple the amount of experience points for each evolution.
Can you catch Shiny Ferroseed? Yes. If you’re lucky, you may encounter the Shiny variant of Ferroseed during the event. However, the chance is not increased.
Spotlight Hour on October 14, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? Petilil is waiting for you in the Spotlight Hour on October 14, 2025. This Pokémon comes from Generation 5 and is of the Grass type. It also has an evolution to Lilligant.
Which bonus is active? In this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of Stardust when you catch a Pokémon. The bonus is active for every Pokémon.
Is the event worth it? As attackers, Petilil and Lilligant are not worth using for raids or the battle league.
If you want to collect some extra Stardust, you can use this event for that purpose. While Petilil is not a Pokémon that generally brings you more Stardust, with the bonus and the use of Stardust items, you can receive quadruple the amount of Stardust.
Can you catch Shiny Petilil? Yes, you can also obtain this Pokémon as Shiny. But again, the chance is not increased.
Spotlight Hour on October 21, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? On October 21, Gastly awaits you in the Spotlight Hour. This Pokémon comes from Generation 1 and is of the Ghost and Poison types. It can evolve into Haunter and then into Gengar.
Which bonus is active? During this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of experience points for each Pokémon you catch. The bonus applies not only to Gastly but to every Pokémon you catch.
Is the event worth it? Although Gastly and its evolutions have been in the game since the beginning of Pokémon GO, Gengar is still one of the best attackers. You can play this Pokémon as a Ghost attacker and also as a Poison attacker.
The effect is also helpful if you are gathering experience points. If you use Lucky Eggs, you will even receive quadruple the amount of experience points for each catch.
Can you catch Shiny Gastly? Yes, Gastly can also be caught as Shiny with a bit of luck.
Spotlight Hour on October 28, 2025
Which Pokémon is in the spotlight? Just before Halloween, the Ghost Pokémon Sinistea awaits you in the Spotlight Hour. It comes from Generation 8 and can evolve into Polteageist. It also has, like its evolution, 2 forms: the Original and the Fake form.
Which bonus is active? In this Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of candies when you catch Pokémon. As usual, the bonus applies not only to Sinistea but to every Pokémon you catch during the Spotlight Hour.
If you have Pokémon as rewards that you haven’t picked up yet, you can also catch them during this event with the bonus. Using Pinap Berries additionally increases the amount of candies you receive.
Is the event worth it? From a combat perspective, Sinistea and Polteageist are not significant. However, if you are missing these Pokémon in both forms, you can use this event to fill that gap.
Can you catch Shiny Sinistea? No. The Shiny variant of Sinistea is not yet active in the game.
