In Pokémon GO, many players hope for a Safari Zone in Dortmund. An entry in the event calendar of Westfalenpark suggests such an event.
Why is there this hope? Niantic announced that they will reveal the locations for this year’s Safari Zones on April 4.
Now there is also a mention in a flyer about Dortmund’s Westfalenpark. There is an event listed for the summer that sounds suspiciously like a Safari Zone.
Update 7:30 PM: In the meantime, an image has surfaced that supposedly shows a logo for a GO Fest in Dortmund. So, it might not be a Safari Zone in Dortmund, but rather a GO Fest. This has only been held in Chicago before.

The chances for a Safari Zone in Dortmund
What does the flyer show? It states that there is an event in Westfalenpark from July 4th to 7th. This event is expected to have limited access regulations.

For many players, this sounds like the Safari Zone, as in 2018 access to this park was also limited and the event lasted several days.
What speaks for Dortmund? The community in Germany is huge. Only Japan and the USA have more players than Germany. It is only logical that the developers plan such an event in Germany.
Moreover, Westfalenpark in Dortmund is already well-known to Niantic. In 2018, it went very well there and it could be repeated in 2019.
Then we will know more: In just two days, on April 4, Niantic will announce their summer tour for 2019. We will then find out if Dortmund or another German city will be included.
There is also another theory regarding the Safari Zone
Some players also consider it possible that Hamburg will host a Safari Zone. This is supported by a tweet from Niantic that shows a dancing Kappalores in front of the Hamburg City Hall.
How likely is a Safari Zone in Hamburg? It is interesting that Niantic chose Hamburg as the background for such a picture. It is certainly possible that they had the idea of the Safari Zone in mind.
They write about the image “Kappalores! Where are you dancing again? Can you help us, Trainers?”. They may want to solve this “mystery” on April 4 and present Hamburg as a city for the Safari Zone.
Moreover, Hamburg is well-suited. It has large parks and offers enough space for thousands of players who would come to the city.
What is more likely? The clues regarding the Dortmund Safari Zone are definitely clearer. The developers may also plan an event in both cities. This remains to be seen.
What is a Safari Zone? This event always takes place at a specific location. There, you can catch a regional Pokémon and numerous Shinys. Last year, there was a such event in Dortmund. The next Safari Zone will take place in Singapore.
What do you think? Would you welcome a Safari Zone in Dortmund?
