In Pokémon GO there are some monsters that are not easy to obtain. Here we show you six particularly difficult candidates.
What kind of Pokémon are those? There are many monsters in Pokémon GO that are only available for a limited time or only during certain events. This applies, for example, to Legendary or Mysterious Pokémon. Pokémon that are only available in certain regions also count among the rarest monsters.
However, there are also some monsters that are simply hard to obtain in their basic form because they are quite rare—and they need a lot of candies to evolve.
We will show you such monsters here.
Ramoth
Trainers have been waiting a long time for this monster to arrive in the game in spring 2023. The problem: Its pre-evolution Ignivor can only be obtained from eggs—and the chance of hatching it is minimal.
To make the difficulty even higher, it takes 400 candies to evolve Ignivor into Ramoth. This makes Ramoth one of the hardest catches in the game right now.
Amfira
To obtain Amfira, you first need a Molunk. You can get this lizard-like Pokémon from the 12km eggs of Team GO Rocket. So you first have to battle Rocket bosses to even have a chance.
But that’s just the complicated part: Only the female variant of Molunk can evolve into Amfira. So you need double luck: Firstly, Molunk has to hatch from the egg, and then it must not be the male variant.
Last but not least, you also need 50 candies to evolve Molunk into Amfira.
Rabigator
Let’s stay with monsters that Team GO Rocket can bring you: Rabigator is the final evolution of Ganovil. The latter can also only be found in Rocket eggs—currently, you cannot obtain it in the wild or in raids.
Now you have the same problem as with Molunk: First, get the corresponding eggs, walk 12 kilometers, and hope that the right monster hatches.
Additionally, you need 25 candies to evolve Ganovil into Rokkaiman and another 100 to get Rabigator.
We will take a closer look at the topic of Team GO Rocket in the video:
Honweisel
Honweisel brings a similar problem as Molunk: It evolves exclusively from the female form of Wadribie for 50 candies. Wadribie itself is already quite unusual, but the female form is particularly rare.
The monster has been in the game since 2019, so some trainers may have caught a few specimens of the female Wadribie. If you are also out of luck with the bees, trading might be an option.
Monetigo
Gierspenst has been in the game since 2023 and brings its evolution Monetigo with it. Here, less luck is required, but quite a bit of effort.
First, you need a coin bag to catch Gierspenst. You get this by connecting Pokémon GO with the Nintendo Switch and then sending a postcard to the games Karmesin & Purpur. We will show you how to do this with the Switch and Gierspenst here.
Through the coin bag, you can obtain Gierspenst, but that’s not enough to also get Monetigo. For that, you need Gierspenst coins, which can be obtained from golden Poké-stops. And to get those, you first have to use a gold lure module, which you obtain by sending several postcards in Karmesin and Purpur.
In short: The path to Monetigo is quite long. Because: You need 999 Gierspenst coins for the evolution. So plan a lot of time.
However, there have already been cases where trainers teamed up to get a lot of coins at once with many gold lure modules. We will show you how trainers snatched Monetigo in no time.
