Gigantamax-Olangaar awaits you in the Pokémon GO Nature Zone 2025. How do you defeat it? We have tips and counters for you.
What kind of event is this? This weekend, the global GO Nature Zone 2025 is taking place. One of the highlights of this event is the battle against Gigantamax-Olangaar.
What kind of Pokémon is this? Olangaar is the evolution of Bähmon and Pelzebub. The Gigantamax variant of Olangaar is the gigantic version of the Fairy/Dark Pokémon.
To fight it, you need to find a power source where it is stationed and use 800 Dyna-Particles for the battle. But you should expect a tough challenge – because Gigantamax Pokémon are the toughest challenge in the game.
Can Olangaar be Shiny? Yes, you can catch the shiny version of Gigantamax-Olangaar after the battle.
Tip 1: Play as a group against Gigantamax-Olangaar
You will not defeat Gigantamax-Olangaar alone. Instead, you will need a group of trainers. Depending on how well your group has leveled up their Dynamax attackers and defenders, you may need a sizable number of players. Gigantamax battles allow up to 40 trainers. Of course, it’s also possible with significantly fewer players, especially with strong Pokémon. But: Be prepared for a tough battle.
If you don’t have a group:
- Use the Campfire app to find organized groups.
- Use Remote Raid Passes to join larger groups elsewhere. However, you need to be invited.
- Try your luck in busy locations where multiple people might be playing.
Tip 2: Play strategically – not just offense!
The Dynamax feature involves more than just attack. Also use shield and healing attacks to support your Pokémon defensively.
It’s best if you assign appropriate roles within your group. Two players attack, two focus on support.
Also, always switch to your strongest attackers during the Dynamax phase to protect them from damage for as long as possible and keep them in the fight. However, your best attackers in the case of Olangaar are also your best defenders.
By the way: It’s usually not worth using your charged attack outside of the Dynamax phase. Instead, use quick fast attacks to quickly fill the Dynamax gauge. Using charged attacks will only waste your time.
Tip 3: Strong attackers and defenders against Gigantamax-Olangaar
Your teams should leverage type advantages to deal as much damage as possible. Fortunately, two of the currently best Dynamax Pokémon are also strong against Olangaar: Zacian and Zamazenta. Especially Zacian in its Crowned form is a top attacker against Olangaar while also taking hits well.
Strong attackers against Olangaar:
- Blade of Justice Zacian
- Shield of Justice Zamazenta
- Dynamax-Metagross
- Gigantamax-Deponitox
- Dynamax-Stalobor
Or: Other Pokémon of the types Fairy, Poison, or Steel.
Strong defenders or healers against Olangaar:
- Blade of Justice Zacian
- Shield of Justice Zamazenta
- Dynamax-Heiteira
- Gigantamax-Relaxo
- Dynamax-Krarmor
Which team? Generally, Heiteira is your best option for defense and healing. Heiteira combined with the legendary dogs is a strong team against Gigantamax-Olangaar.
Tip 4: Support through items and adventure effects
When it comes to items, you can use Dyna-Mushrooms to deal additional damage. This way, you might be able to compensate for not having enough trainers.
Additionally, you could use certain adventure effects (but only one at a time).
- Dynamax Cannon by Endynalos increases your Pokémon’s Dyna-attack level. Very useful, however, it does not affect the attacks of Zacian and Zamazenta, as they do not Dynamax.
- Giant Strike by Zacian increases your damage.
- Giant Impact boosts your defense.
Important: Endynalos is relevant for this fight only because of its adventure effect, which you can activate before the fight. It does not need to be in your team and should not be: As a Dragon-type Pokémon, it is not very effective against Olangaar. However, its adventure effect should be very useful.
