The wait is over. Patch 0.85.2 for Pokémon GO is live and brings these bonuses into the game along with 50 new Pokémon.
In a blog post, the developers of Niantic explained that you can now find more monsters from the 3rd Pokémon generation in the wild.

Update 0.85.2 Patchnotes – Gen 3 Release
Your game is now updated to version 0.85.2 and allows you to discover dozens of new monsters in the game.
- 50 Pokémon that were first found in the Hoenn region can now be caught in Pokémon GO. We will show you which Pokémon these are here
- Real weather conditions can now be seen on the map, during battles, and when catching Pokémon.
- In the game, you can also find a weather symbol. If you touch this, the game will show you which Pokémon types are currently spawning more frequently and are positively influenced by the current weather conditions.
- A test version of the battle teams has been activated, allowing you to assign up to six Pokémon to a group. In raids and gym battles, you can quickly select counters or monster groups that match the current weather.
- The storage limit for Pokémon has been increased from 1000 to 1500.
- The interface during battles has been revamped and now shows your charge attacks more clearly. You can also execute these via a new button.
- Various bugs have been fixed.
Now go out and catch the new little monsters that are once again displayed as “shadows” in your nearby overview.
