The new raid bosses Kyogre and Groudon have been in raids of Pokémon GO for a few days now, and some players are impressively showing how to defeat them in pairs.
The return of Groudon and Kyogre has been celebrated by many players. When the two raid bosses last appeared, players could barely defeat the legendary Pokémon in groups of three.
Why is it so easy now? Nowadays, thanks to strong Pokémon, many players are able to defeat the monsters easily in pairs. In addition, Niantic made some changes to the very effective attacks. They have become stronger.
There are numerous videos circulating on YouTube that showcase this milestone. We present our favorites.
How to defeat Kyogre in pairs
Kyogre is a Water type, so Electric and Grass types are very effective. The best counters, at least in all weather conditions except sunny, are Electric Pokémon. So you can defeat Kyogre with a team of Electivire and Raikou in pairs.
Can I do it too? The team of the two trainers consists of six Electivire at level 40. If you have such a team or a similar team of Raikou, any player should be able to do it.
In sunny weather, you can even defeat Kyogre with Grass Pokémon. They receive a battle bonus and can bring Kyogre to its knees. However, in other weather conditions, they cannot do it.
How to defeat Groudon in pairs
The Ground type Pokémon is susceptible to Water, Grass, and Ice types. You should be able to defeat Groudon in pairs with Pokémon from any type. We recommend, for example, Kyogre, Gyarados, Mewtwo, or Roserade.
Can I do it too? Groudon should be somewhat easier to defeat than Kyogre. In this video, two players fight Groudon only with Mewtwo, who have all Ice Beam. A team of Kyogre or even Roserade should also be able to do it.
Groudon can learn Solar Beam, so you should pay close attention to your Pokémon selection. If it knows Solar Beam, you should rely less on Water Pokémon and instead focus on Grass attackers.
More challenges: For every new raid boss, players try to set special records. For instance, Cresselia or Giratina have already been defeated in pairs. Level 4 raids like Absol or Rhyperior can even be completed alone.
Some players took on special challenges during the last Level 5 raid, Heatran:
