Actually, the new expansion of Helldivers 2 was supposed to send players on missions into underground tunnels and fundamentally change the game. However, players are complaining about many technical issues.
What kind of expansion is this? With “Into the Unjust,” the developers of Helldivers 2 have released a new expansion for the co-op shooter that is supposed to radically change the gameplay. Instead of fighting on the surface as usual, the Helldivers are sent into underground tunnels to eliminate the eggs on the home worlds of the Terminids.
Crawling through dark caves with a touch of horror and completing difficult missions without many opportunities for reinforcements. These interesting ideas caused great excitement among fans, but shortly after the launch, technical issues led to frustration among fans.
Here you can watch the trailer for the new expansion:
Technical issues overshadow the release
What problems are there? Players are complaining on Reddit about a multitude of technical problems. There are reports of crashes when loading missions, low FPS rates, and audio bugs that make the shrieks of the bugs literally deafening.
The improved bugs are described as “annoying to fight and hellishly flawed.” User djh2121 further explains on Reddit that the new bugs “are no fun and are not interesting to fight, unlike the bugs that are already in the game.”
Another problem is the respawns. The developers of Helldivers 2 allow for resupply in the form of Helldivers and ammunition only through small holes in the tunnels that lead up to the surface. However, when team members call their comrades underground, they reportedly get stuck in the ceiling of the cave system.
What do the developers of Helldivers 2 say about this? Already on the early evening after the release of the expansion, the first reports from players about the technical issues emerged. The developers announced shortly after the reports that they are aware of the issues and are already working on a solution. They wrote:
Attention, Helldiver!
We are aware of the issues with crashes that do NOT meet Super Earth standards and are currently working on finding solutions. We apologize for this delay and will inform you soon about the current status.
Community Manager Baskinator on Discord
Since then, there have been no official announcements. However, the community manager “Baskinator” commented again in the chats of the official Discord server, explaining that the team is working on a hotfix.
When the patch with improvements will arrive is still unclear. In the past, the developers of Helldivers 2 have always been quick to address issues. The battles in the home worlds and in the tunnel systems could change Helldivers 2 forever: Helldivers 2 launches expansion, shows scenes in the new trailer that you would only see in horror films
