Borderlands 4 has received a major update that addresses various issues with the loot shooter, but now a large part of the community is complaining about bugs. The developers were aware of these “bugs” and explained how you can resolve them.
What are these new problems? They are related to the game’s performance, which has been abysmal since the last update that brought the FOV for consoles. Many fans are reporting graphical errors when exploring areas or loading the world of Kairos for the first time.
For many, it is clear that this is due to the new update, and even if they are right, Gearbox referred to these very errors in its patch notes, even providing a fix.
Patience is enough to fix the problem
How can the problem be fixed? Well, the problem is not directly due to a bug in the code of the latest patch, but with the game’s engine. So when you start your game after downloading, your system begins to load the shaders essential for your game world – you surely noticed this during the first boot-up of the game.
Exactly the same must be done again after the patch, as Gearbox also noted in the patch notes on Steam.
Stuttering issues should resolve themselves over time, as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing. If problems persist after 15 minutes of uninterrupted play, you can also delete your shader cache using the method recommended by your graphics card manufacturer.
It is advisable, before you start farming bosses, to first visit each of the large areas and conduct an exploration tour. Each area must also be loaded, which you will notice especially when trying to enter one and your game briefly freezes while a shader bar loads.
What else has changed? The latest patch has also made various adjustments to the UI & UX, the different classes, and sound. Moreover, there was perhaps the biggest change for console players – the FOV slider is here. With it, you can now set a much larger field of view and enjoy the game better.
