In the new loading screen of Pokémon GO, players find possible hints about an upcoming event. It is supposed to be related to pigs.
What’s new? For a few days now, players of Pokémon GO can see a new loading screen when they start the game. It features various Pokémon. Some of them might announce an event, according to players’ speculations.
What does the loading screen show? The image shows Pokémon celebrating the new year. These are Pikachu, Eevee, Electrike, Lucario, and the creatures Spoink, Spoink, and Groink.
Electrike and Lucario were also seen in the last loading screen. Pikachu and Eevee are not unusual either, as they are the faces of Pokémon Let’s GO. Spoink, Spoink, and Groink are more surprising. Fans see hints here.
Chinese Year of the Earth Pig 2019
According to the Chinese calendar, 2019 is the Year of the Pig. Here, fans see the connection to the loading screen in Pokémon GO, which features the three pig-like Pokémon Spoink, Spoink, and Groink.
What players believe: Players suspect that the pig Pokémon in the image might represent an event announcement.
What kind of event could this be? This could be an event that brings more Pokémon from Gen. 4. Because Spoink has an evolution in the 4th generation, Mamoswine. Players have been looking forward to this since the announcement of Gen. 4. However, Mamoswine is not yet in the game.
On Reddit, user Soyatina writes, “I’ll say it now: Shiny Spoink and Groink will be released on Chinese New Year 2019. And also Spoink, Keifel, and Mamoswine?” The comment receives a lot of support. Other players also believe that the pigs are in the loading screen for a reason and have something to do with Chinese New Year and a possible event.
When could the event start? On February 5, 2019, the new year in the sign of the pig begins according to the Chinese calendar. So the event could take place around this day.
What fans hope for: It is believed that Niantic wants to hint with the new loading screen that further Pokémon from the 4th generation will be announced for Chinese New Year 2019, and Mamoswine will be part of it.
