Apex Legends is currently plagued by a number of bugs that are quite “game breaking” for many players. They cause players to seemingly die randomly.
How do players die? On May 1st, the user thedarkmuse posted a short clip on reddit showing how two of his teammates simply die on a loot ship.
The two players, the legends Lifeline and Wraith, are trying to reach death boxes at the edge of a still flying ship. Just as they reach these boxes, both of them die instantly. They are not even knocked down, so that thedarkmuse could have revived them, but die outright.
The game has marked both deaths as “crushed” – a type of death that normally should not exist at all.
What is causing this? There is currently no official confirmation for the cause of these deaths. However, some users in the thread explain that this has also happened to them.
They suspect that it has to do with the behavior of the ships or their thrusters. The game registers when players are in places they should not be and then kills them due to their location.
Something similar happened to other players shortly after the release of Apex Legends in February. The loot ship apparently continued moving while they simply slid into its texture and died.
Hacks from cheaters that are still heavily affecting Apex Legends do not seem to be the reason for these sudden deaths.
These bugs still plague Apex Legends: In addition to the sudden deaths in places where nothing apparent happens, there are still other curious cases.
It was often observed at the beginning of the game that players died when they were standing on doors or loot boxes when they were opened. They were also killed immediately without the chance of revival (without a beacon).
Other players also had the problem shortly after the release that they died immediately after respawning from a ship again. After being called back at a beacon, they jumped out of the ship, fell, and died from fall damage – even though there is no fall damage in Apex Legends.
In the latest patches of Apex Legends, many bugs have already been fixed, but apparently there are still issues.
