A player has bought a new monitor. But now he has to realize that his desk can’t bear the weight. The community is amused and quite incredulous.
What did the user do? User XxCaptainJack made a post on Reddit asking for help. He writes that his desk is bending under the weight of his monitor. In the second photo, it is clearly visible how much the tabletop bends. He writes: “I need a recommendation for a new desk.”
What kind of monitor is this? Specifically, he acquired the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 with 57 inches. The price for the model fluctuates in Germany between 1,400 and 1,600 Euros (via Geizhals.de).
The monitor alone weighs 15.4 kg without the stand. In the case of the user, several kilograms are added for the mount, which also puts pressure on the tabletop. Presumably, the entire construction resting on the edge of the table weighs more than 20 kilograms.
Community wonders how one could overlook the desk like that
These are the reactions: The reactions are horrified and incredulous. The majority is especially disturbed by his setup and that the monitor protrudes so far over the desk.
In particular, it is evident that the table is simply not suitable for such a large monitor. Someone says:
I think it’s great that you placed this monstrous monitor on the edge of a particle board desk and then say: “I can’t believe my desk is warping.”
And another adds that something must have gone wrong with the investment:
You have a 90-dollar desk but a 900-dollar monitor. Lol, are you surprised?
In one thing, however, everyone agrees: How could one think to mount such an expensive monitor on such a cheap tabletop.
Because the problem is not the cheap tabletop: if the table actually collapses under the weight, in the end, the expensive monitor or his computer, which is not far away, will be damaged in the fall. Then the financial damage is much greater than the cost of the broken tabletop.
When ordering new hardware, one initially assumes that it is new. A player ordered a new monitor and found out that it had already been used for weeks: Player buys new monitor in the store, must discover at home that it has already been used for almost 1,000 hours
