A player ordered RAM for his computer. But instead, he received an M.2 SSD, which costs significantly more. Someone must have confused RAM with SSD.
What happened to the user? The player explains on reddit that he just wanted to buy new RAM from Corsair, specifically two 8 GB sticks for around 40 USD (about 36 Euros). But when he opened the package, he was quite surprised: Because instead, Amazon had sent him an M.2 SSD, one that costs 850 Euros. By the way, the price is higher in Germany. The cheapest offer is according to Geizhals.de 949 Euros at Mindfactory.
According to the Amazon app, the correct product – the RAM from Corsair – was delivered, as he shows with a screenshot.
How good is the M.2 SSD that the player received? The Corsair MP600 Pro XT is one of the currently fastest M.2 SSDs for PCIe 4.0 that you can buy right now. There are faster models for the PCIe 5.0 standard. However, to take advantage of the high speeds, you also need the corresponding motherboard with the appropriate technology.
In particular, the bulky cooler on the M.2 SSD stands out. Due to its large, bulky design, it doesn’t fit into the PS5 because the cooler is too big. By the way, there is a similar model, the MP600 PRO LPX, which has a significantly lower cooling system and is therefore better suited for a PS5 or small computer systems. Incorrectly delivered goods do not officially belong to you
Can I keep incorrectly delivered goods? No, because you generally do not own the incorrect product, as you did not conclude your purchase contract over the SSD. After all, you only entered into a purchase contract with Amazon for a specific quantity. We asked a lawyer what to do with excess goods from Amazon: You can read the interview directly on MeinMMO.
Do I have to run to the post office immediately? No, no one should expect you to run to the post office immediately to return excess goods received. First, contact the seller and set a deadline for return.
The seller can then either pick up the goods themselves or provide you with a shipping label. Because you do not have to return anything at your own expense. After all, it is the seller’s mistake, not yours.
It is definitely important that in the end, you do not pay for the return or are left with costs.
Problems with returns: Sellers like Amazon are not always accommodating or helpful when it comes to returns. This is exemplified by the story of a family father. He received an incorrect GPU on Amazon, but the seller refused to issue a refund: Gamer buys graphics card on Amazon, receives fake product – seller refuses refund until “correct” item is returned
