A player in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has discovered a scope that has a hidden feature: It blinds your opponents when you aim at them.
What does the scope do? In CoD MW2, a scope for sniper rifles is currently causing a stir, and for several days, posts have been circulating on reddit, where players talk about the notorious scope.
The special thing: If someone aims at you with this scope, it not only has the typical sniper glare but also a strong glow.
This glow makes it so you cannot see the player using the scope behind the bright light. It seems as if it has a built-in flashbang that blinds you when your opponent aims at you.
We are embedding an exemplary reddit post here, where you can see the effect of the scope:

Which scope are we talking about? As the reddit user “SSYorimz” reports in the “CoD MW2” subreddit, he has found out which scope is responsible for the blinding effect. According to him, the scope is the “RAPTOR-FVM40”.
The scope has a 13x magnification, an indicator for bullet drop, and increased ADS speed.
As the only disadvantage, the game lists the “very large sniper glare”, which is definitely a plus given the blinding effect when aimed at your opponents with the scope.
What do the players say about the scope? The players of CoD MW2 agree on the strength of the scope and believe it has no disadvantage, but rather an advantage.
- TheFrostyrune: “Run ‘n gun with the scope and a flashlight, just to make sure they go blind (via reddit).”
- baum_imp: “Why the hell does it increase the display speed lmao, this setup literally has zero disadvantages (via reddit).”
- Gusfeldt__: “In the beginning, it was a disadvantage to use a scope with glare, now it’s an advantage (via reddit).”
- pnellesen: “And here I am, trying to use scopes with ‘very low’ glare. What an idiot I am, lol (via reddit).”
- Trolly14: “Scope with flashbang upgrade, genius! They thought of everything (via reddit).”
- syrupchi: “It’s so obstructive that it’s almost a real advantage for them (via reddit).”
It is certainly the case with the strong blinding effect of the scope that the developers did not intend it in this way. After all, they list the strong glare of the scope as a disadvantage. It is quite possible that Infinity Ward will make adjustments regarding the scope or its blinding effect.
Shortly after the release of the shooter, the developers released a patch that fixed 120 bugs.
